2024 UTME: candidates can generate their profile codes now; To streamline the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Registration process and eliminate hurdles, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has notified prospective candidates that they can now generate their profile code. This code can be saved and used when the registration officially commences.

This announcement was detailed in a statement shared with JAMBulletin as part of the preparation leading up to the commencement of the 2024 UTME registration, scheduled to begin in the forthcoming weeks.

To ensure a smooth registration process, candidates were strongly advised by the Board to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN), which is a prerequisite for UTME/DE registration. Comprehensive guidelines on how to obtain the NIN were provided for the candidates.

The process to generate their profile codes involves sending a text message (SMS) with their NIN (space) followed by their eleven-digit NIN number to either 55019 or 66019 from their personal GSM number. For instance, the SMS format should resemble: “NIN 12345678901” (without apostrophes), and sent to 55019 or 66019. The digits “12345678901” should represent the candidate’s individual NIN.

Upon sending the SMS, candidates will receive a ten-character profile code on the same telephone number used for sending the text message. It’s crucial for candidates to note that the phone number utilized in this process will be linked to their respective names and will be the channel through which the Board communicates regarding application, examination, and admission matters.

Additionally, prospective candidates were strongly urged to heed the strict warning against the application of henna, also known as “Laali” or “Lale.” This precautionary measure aims to prevent challenges during biometric verification, as it has been established that the use of henna on fingers can interfere with the biometric verification process.

Furthermore, attempts by candidates to remove henna designs often involve chemicals that can damage the fingerprint patterns, making biometric verification and authentication difficult, if not impossible.
