What Is The Difference Between a School Of Nursing And Studying Nursing At The University

School Of Nursing In Nigeria – JAMB & Admission Requirements; Students who enrol to study nursing at any nursing school will obtain a nursing form from their preferred nursing school and run their nursing programme for three (3) academic sessions. This means, that if you go to nursing school, you will study the programme for 3 years maximum.

At the end of your nursing course and passing external exams called Hospital Final, you’re awarded the Registered Nurse (RN) certificate or license.

While studying nursing at any university is a bit different from studying nursing at a school of nursing, If you’re eventually admitted to study nursing at any accredited university in Nigeria, you will run the nursing programme for 5 academic sessions (5 years) after which you will be awarded three certificates – RN, RM, and (Bachelor in Nursing) BSN.

Do I need JAMB For the School Of Nursing Or for Studying Nursing In The University?

For the school of nursing, the answer is NO, you don’t need to buy a JAMB form or even use it as an admission requirement Into any school of Nursing institution in Nigeria.

On the other hand, students who are willing to enrol into the university of their choice and pick up nursing as a degree course would need to register and sit for JAMB. Yes, you need JAMB to study nursing at the university.

Do I need WAEC / NECO Results For the School Of Nursing Or for Studying Nursing In The University?

For both programmes, you need O’level results before you can be eligible for their admission exercises. So before you can be eligible for admission into the school of nursing or nursing programme at the university you must have either waec or neco results.

In the matter of awaiting results, Yes, awaiting result is accepted. But note that you will not be considered for admission if your result is not ready by the time the admission list is released.
