ABSU Staff Suspended For Brutalizing Student; The University Management of Abia State University, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Distinguished Professor Onyemachi M. Ogbulu, has directed the immediate suspension of security staff member Mr. Ugochukwu Onyemere for three months due to dereliction of duty and gross indiscipline.

In a letter signed by Registrar Dr. Acho Elendu, the suspension is in accordance with the University’s conditions of service, pending further investigation into Mr. Onyemere’s involvement in the brutalization of a student, Miss Dominic Chizurum, on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Hostel H, Room 22. This incident is inconsistent with the responsibilities expected of security personnel.

The ABSU management suspends staff for the alleged brutalization of a student.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor has reached out to Miss Dominic Chizurum to extend the University management’s sympathy and support. He also assured all staff and students of their safety and protection at all times.
