FG appoints Dr. Emmanuel Akinwale as YABATECH acting registrar

FG appoints Dr. Emmanuel Akinwale as YABATECH acting registrar; The Federal Government, under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has officially sanctioned the appointment of Dr. Emmanuel Jude Abiodun Akinwale as the Acting Registrar of Yaba College of Technology, effective from Friday, January 26, 2024. This appointment comes in light of the absence of the Governing Council.

Dr. Akinwale assumes this role on an interim basis until the Federal Government appoints a permanent Registrar. Prior to this designation, he held the position of Head of Department, Council Affairs in the Registry Unit of the College.

With a distinguished service spanning forty-three years within the seventy-seven-year history of the College, Dr. Akinwale boasts a remarkable list of accomplishments. Notably, he served as the first Secretary to the Committee of Federal Rectors in Nigeria (COFER) from June 1992 to December 1993. His involvement in the compilation of the monumental book titled “Yaba College of Technology at 40” earned him commendation from the College Governing Council. Throughout his tenure, he has received seventeen commendation letters from the college management.

Dr. Akinwale has actively participated in workshops and conferences both locally and internationally, including engagements with the British Council and the Centre for Parliamentary Studies in the United Kingdom.

His scholarly contributions extend beyond his administrative roles, evident in his published works such as “Human Resources Management: An Overview,” and his recognition in the national-level Nigerian Institute of Management’s Young Managers Competition in December 2000.

Furthermore, Dr. Akinwale has made significant contributions to academia through his articles in Governance and Public Administration and the publication of textbooks in Public Administration and Management.

Since his promotion to the position of Deputy Registrar in January 2006, Dr. Akinwale has proven himself as a seasoned Administrator, Historian, Political Scientist, Public Personnel Policy Analyst, Public Relations Personnel, and a person of humble demeanor.

Additionally, Dr. Akinwale’s dedication to the College is underscored by his election as a member of the College Governing Council, representing the congregation, on May 6, 2021. This historic appointment positions him as one of the first staff members to hold such a position since the establishment of the Congregation as a statutory organ of Federal polytechnics in Nigeria, as provided in the Federal Polytechnic Act (2019) Amended.

His academic qualifications include B. A. (Hons), MPA, MSc (Political Science), PhD (Political Science), ÀCIPM, FNIM, FCIPA.
