Justice Served: Aaron Glee Sentenced to Life in Prison for 2020 Murders

Family and friends of two victims, Victoria “Vicki” Sims, 75, and Oluwatoyin Salau, 19, gathered in a Leon County courtroom as Aaron Glee was sentenced to life in prison for their horrific 2020 murders.

June Campos, one of Sims’ daughters, remembered her mother as an advocate for human rights and condemned Glee as a monster.

Brenda Campos, Sims’ other daughter, tearfully spoke of her mother’s selflessness and the void left by her absence.

Rebecca Figueroa, a friend of Salau, expressed the profound impact of the murder on her and others, emphasizing the lasting scars it left behind.

Throughout the hearing, Glee, 52, sat in a wheelchair, rarely meeting anyone’s eyes.

While most speakers focused on memories and heartache, some, including Figueroa, called for the death penalty, believing it was the only fitting punishment.

Glee initially wanted a trial but later pleaded guilty in June to first-degree murder and kidnapping, accepting a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Three years after the tragic deaths, the victims’ families found a sense of justice.

Salau, a student and Black Lives Matter activist, went missing just days before Sims, a retired community volunteer who had worked for state agencies.

Glee admitted to sexually assaulting Salau before killing her and later kidnapping Sims, whose body was found at his home.

Victoria Salau, Toyin’s mother, spoke of the unbearable pain of losing her daughter, who had moved to Tallahassee for a safer life.

Despite the tragedy, the sentencing marked the end of a nightmarish chapter for the victims’ loved ones, offering the possibility of healing.

Rusty Flowers, Sims’ grandson, forgave Glee and wished him a blessed day as a symbol of moving forward.
