An $18.8 Million Penthouse In This Celebrity-Favorite Building Just Listed—and It Feels Like You’re Living In A Private Jet

The most incredible real estate in the world may be found in New York City, but what exactly about a building appeals to the super-rich and well-known? It’s privacy—and sustainability—for many. And because of its safety and solitude, A-listers have flocked to The Riverhouse, which is situated in Manhattan’s North Battery Park/West Tribeca neighborhood. It is also regarded as one of New York’s greenest structures.

The recent crown jewel to list within the building just so happens to be worthy of a celebrity resident. The ‘Celebrity Penthouse Residence,’ or RH8, recently hit the market for $18.8 million. Located on the 32nd floor, the condo has exquisite views of downtown and uptown Manhattan and the Hudson River, where residents are privy to sunrise and sunset views. In fact, the unit uniquely has exposures in every direction. The residence is so appealing that Leonardo DiCaprio once offered $15 million for the pad on the spot.

There are four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms in this 4,100-square-foot home. The large living room, which is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and feels spacious and light, is designed for entertaining. In addition to being bathed in sunlight, this room has plenty of white wall space on which dedicated art collectors can place their prized possessions. A breakfast nook and kitchen allow for more casual everyday dining in style, and the living room is connected to a formal dining room.

The main suite, though, is the star of the show. The space is rich in texture and beauty, and the corner exposure gives the impression that it is immensely large. There is a huge walk-in closet, an elegant bathroom, and unending views. Living in this apartment is like “living inside a private jet,” according to realtor Danny Abraham.

There are several eco-friendly features for customers that care about sustainability. First off, this is the first LEED Gold-certified green condominium in existence. The apartment has environmentally friendly features like teak cabinetry, bamboo floors, solar electricity, water and air filters, and non-polluting materials and finishes. The apartments also have triple-glazed windows to keep the heat out, low pollution paint, environmentally friendly carpet, and humidity control.

The full-service building has a 24-hour concierge, an on-site parking garage, a 50-foot lap pool, a fitness facility, a pool table area, a landscaped inner courtyard, an outdoor terrace, a media café, a treehouse lounge, a kids’ playroom, and a separate pet grooming area. Additionally, it is close to Rockefeller Park and the Hudson River, making it the ideal location for year-round access to walking and running trails and green spaces.

According to the NY Post, Banks loved the building so much she bought four units above $10 million in 2009, while DiCaprio at one point owned two units within the building. Other famous past residents include Oliver Stone and Cobie Smulders. The building was designed by David Rockwell and completed in 2008. The 32-story building has 258 units.
