Anambra Women Put 1m Bounty On Child Abuser

Women from Awgu Local Government Area in Enugu State have announced a N1 million bounty on Anambra woman, Adachukwu Okafor, for the brutal assault of her 11-year-old domestic worker.

Under the banner of the Umuada Awgu Global Association (UAGA), the women’s group has given Ms. Okafor a 48-hour ultimatum to surrender to the authorities.

During a press briefing held in Enugu on Thursday, UAGA President Chinemerem Anyi disclosed the financial reward for any informant who aids in locating the fleeing culprit.

According to Ms. Anyi, individuals who provide the police, Anambra government, or relevant authorities with valuable information leading to the arrest of Ms. Okafor will receive N1 million from the association.

She expressed bewilderment at the delay in the perpetrator’s apprehension, almost three weeks after the heinous act was committed, questioning the handling of the matter by the Anambra police command.

Furthermore, the group has issued a stern warning to the police, giving them a 48-hour deadline to capture the assailant or face their collective wrath.

Ms. Anyi emphasized the resolve of the Awgu women to pursue justice diligently, urging the culprit to surrender herself to the authorities promptly.

Additionally, the group called upon the police and Anambra Government to intensify efforts in apprehending the suspect, stressing their unwavering commitment to ensuring justice prevails.

The announcement comes after a peaceful protest staged by the group in Enugu on February 7, demanding justice for the victim.

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has also offered a N2 million reward for any person with pertinent information regarding the whereabouts of Ms. Okafor.

Adachukwu Okafor allegedly subjected her young housemaid, Happiness Nwafor, whom she took in January, to gruesome torture. She reportedly inserted a hot knife into the girl’s private parts and inflicted burns on her face and buttocks with a hot electric iron.

The police have declared Ms. Okafor wanted, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
