Bomb planted near University of Maiduguri defused: Police

The Borno State Police Command announced the successful neutralization of an improvised explosive device (IED) at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri. The incident occurred on Monday, as confirmed by ASP Nahum Daso, the command’s spokesperson, on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

According to Mr. Daso, at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Monday, a suspicious device was discovered near the main gate of the university. In response, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was swiftly deployed to handle the situation.

The Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) of the command effectively diffused the IED, ensuring there was no loss of lives or property during the operation. The area was subsequently sanitized to guarantee safety. An investigation has been initiated to identify the individuals responsible and ascertain their motives.

Mr. Daso urged residents of Borno to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or persons to the nearest security outfit. This collaborative effort is crucial in preventing potential threats and safeguarding lives and property.
