In late-night attacks in Kaduna, bandits kill 37 people and demolish over 100 homes.

On December 18, the Malagum 1 and Sokwong settlements of the Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura LGA reportedly witnessed coordinated attacks by bandits.

On December 18, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at least 37 persons were killed and over a hundred homes were set on fire by bandits.

Bandits allegedly launched coordinated attacks late on Sunday night, at 11:00 p.m., in the Malagum 1 and Sokwong settlements of the Kagoro Chiefdom in the Kaura LGA.

Atuk Stephen, Speaker of the Kaura Local Government Legislative Council, acknowledged the attacks in a Monday press conference.

Mr. Atuk stated that the terrorists killed at least 37 individuals and set more than a hundred homes on fire.

He claimed that the entire town of Sokwong was under stress since “all the houses in the community were set on fire, numerous vehicles, motorcycles, and other notable properties were destroyed.”

The Kaduna police had not officially confirmed the attacks at the time this report was being written, and the numbers of fatalities were still unknown.
