Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s registrar, has revealed that 817 candidates’ registrations for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations and Direct Entry examinations have been canceled due to impersonation.

Oloyede claims that the registrations were invalidated after the board learned that some registration officials in 178 Computer-Based Test centers added their fingerprints to finish the registration process for the applicants who were largely gullible and uninformed of the illegal activity.

He added that some of the candidates deliberately tried to manipulate the process, but the board was unable to identify them, hence the 817 affected students will be given another opportunity to re-register for the exam while the centers will bear the cost of the registration.

The registrar explained that a message will be sent to the affected candidates and they will be required to go back to the same centers they had registered to re-register.

Oloyede added his thoughts to those about the recent suspension of five CBT sites for selling UTME registration pins for more than was allowed. He revealed that four of the five suspects had been cleared, and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission would receive the additional funds collected by the CBTs.
