LA Lakers plan to up trade offer for Irving

Perhaps the biggest trade rumour of the summer in the NBA has been Kyrie Irving’s potential reunion with LeBron James in LA.

It seems the LA Lakers are keen on getting the deal done and plan on making the Nets in improved offer.

Irving and James won a ring together with the Cavaliers in 2016 and now the Lakers are planning on teaming them up again as part of a big three with Anthony Davis.

The move would put an end to Irving’s largely disappointing and controversial spell in Brooklyn, who he joined in 2019 after two years with the Celtics.

The Lakers’ dream-team plan is one thing, but getting it done is another.

However, it seems the franchise are serious about this and will soon be making the Nets a tempting offer.

Reports in the USA suggest the Lakers are willing to include two first-round picks in the package they send to Brooklyn.

This was one of the Nets’ key demands, but until now the Lakers had been reluctant to accept.

Jovan Buha of The Athletic has said that the Lakers are now prepared to go to two first-round picks in their pursuit of Irving.

Anthony Davis has been a key piece since arriving in LA and in securing a ring in the ‘bubble’.

However, the big man has been increasingly suffering from physical problems in the last couple of years.

That said, the Lakers are still committed to AD as there’s no better rim protector in the game.

They also plan to get him more involved in the offense this coming season, something LeBron is on board with.

      Irving an upgrade

While Russell Westbrook has had his moments in LA and has even played well quite often, he hasn’t been the roaring success that many hoped.

It is believed that Irving will be a better fit at the point and gel with the team quicker.

That’s why the LA-based franchise are likely to end up giving the Nets what they want for the controversial point guard who missed many games last season due to his vaccination status.
