LAUTECH bans students from bringing cars to campus

Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso in Oyo State, has joined the list of Nigerian tertiary institutions that have prohibited students from driving or bringing cars to campus in an effort to reduce traffic on campus.

The institution also prohibited staff and students from driving tinted automobiles and mandated that learner permits be displayed on the vehicles of new drivers. Unauthorized automobiles parked at various sites within the campus need to be removed immediately, and vehicles with no registration numbers are also prohibited.

According to a statement published by the university’s Registrar, Kayode Ogunleye, the decision was made during a management meeting on Wednesday, April 19.

After being accused of reckless driving and illegal parking, the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State (FUOYE) restricted its students from driving personal cars to the university campus in November 2021. The Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, had similarly prohibited students from driving cars on campus.
