”My Oga At The Top” Gets Promotion

On Friday, a photo of Mr. Shem Obafaiye being decorated by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo went viral. Mr. Obafaiye, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officer known for the “my Oga at the top” mantra, has recently been promoted to the position of deputy commandant general.

The promotion ceremony, where Minister Tunji-Ojo adorned Mr. Obafaiye and two other officers, took place two days prior to the viral photo.

The Ministry of Interior shared pictures of the promotion on Wednesday, with a tweet stating, “As the chairman of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), the minister, @BTOofficial, decorated the three new deputy commandants general of the @official_NSCDC today.”

Mr. Obafaiye gained fame over a decade ago when his “My oga at the top” statement in an interview with Channels TV became a viral sensation and a prominent slogan in Nigerian social media.
