A Nigerian student’s flight from Lagos to London on Egypt Air took a fatal turn when she reportedly got sick in the air and passed away.

The family of the deceased, Meshioye Remilekun Toyosi, is now frantically looking for information and help in returning her remains to Nigeria.

The unfortunate voyage started on a Monday when the young woman left Lagos’ Murtala Muhammad International Airport in hopes of making it to London.

Mrs. Olufunmilola Olaniyi-Alabi, the elder sister of Meshioye, claimed the family attempted to contact the airline’s customer service department and all other contact numbers listed on their website but received no answer throughout Wednesday.

When the phone was picked up at some point, according to her, it was abruptly disconnected.

She continued, “I firmly believe Egypt Air should have notified us as the passenger’s next of kin as opposed to us battling to receive information, which even at this time that I am writing, they are yet to deliver to us.When we contacted the Nigerian Embassy, Mr. Saliu Agraza stated that Egypt Air had only informed them on Tuesday that Remi had passed away and had sent her body to them; they had no further information or way to get in touch with her family.

Egypt Air also stated that only the Nigerian Ambassador, Mr. Saliu, who is a Nigerian Consular, will be able to write and demand information about what happened to Remilekun on the plane and at the airport as well as request access to all of her belongings and documents that they currently have, including the CCTV footage from the plane and the airport.In my opinion, Egypt Air is concealing certain information about what occurred to her during takeoff and landing on Monday night at the airport. They don’t want to accept accountability for Remi’s situation.

“We, the family of Remilekun, demand that Egypt Air return Remilekun’s body to Nigeria at their own expense and that they deliver all of Remilekun’s luggage to Lagos, where she boarded the plane on September 4th.

However, a senior airline official, who wished to remain unnamed since the company had not yet issued an official statement, revealed that the dead was in fact travelling on the aforementioned flight but was taken by the company directly to a hospital after landing in Cairo, Egypt.

According to the information we were given, she became ill during the flight and was supposedly sent to a hospital in Cairo, the man stated.
