The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a student from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, identified as Abdullahi Ibrahim, in connection with the killing of a secondary school student, Umar Usman. This incident is linked to alleged homosexual advances.

NSCDC Commandant, Ilelaboye Oyejide, provided details during a press briefing in Bauchi. He revealed that the suspect was apprehended in Misau local council following the discovery of the body of Umar Usman, who had been wrapped in a white cloth and left by Misau bypass.

Oyejide classified the case as a culpable homicide, with the incident taking place on October 24. Umar Usman was initially taken to General Hospital, Misau, where he was confirmed dead and subsequently handed over to his family for burial.

Upon receiving the report, the NSCDC initiated a thorough investigation, leading to the arrest of Abdullahi Ibrahim, who is a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at ABU, Zaria.

During the investigation, it was revealed that there had been communication between the suspect and the deceased. The communication involved the suspect enticing the deceased with homosexual advances and showing him explicit photographs. When the deceased went to meet the suspect, a confrontation occurred, resulting in the stabbing of the deceased in the stomach. His body was then wrapped in a white cloth and abandoned at the location where it was discovered.

The suspect admitted to the crime during the investigation, claiming that the deceased had approached him with a knife, leading to a struggle in which he had to defend himself, ultimately resulting in the death of the victim.

According to the NSCDC Commandant, the suspect will face charges in court. He added that the suspect cited fear as the reason for disposing of the body in the manner described, as he had never encountered such a situation before.
