Police confirm murder of Kwara traditional ruler, kidnapping of wife

The Kwara State Police Command, situated in Ilorin, confirmed the tragic demise of Oba Peter Aremu, the esteemed Onikoro of Koro-Ekiti in the Ekiti Local Government Area. CSP Ejire Adeyemi-Tohun, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this sombre news during a late-night interview in Ilorin.

In a heinous act, unidentified gunmen forcibly entered the traditional ruler’s residence under the cover of nightfall. Tragically, they took the life of Oba Peter Aremu and ruthlessly abducted his wife, leaving a community in shock and mourning.

CSP Adeyemi-Tohun shared that law enforcement swiftly responded, with officers, under the guidance of the divisional police officer (DPO) in Koro-Ekiti, already on the scene at the palace of the late monarch.

An immediate investigation commenced to ascertain the whereabouts of both the perpetrators responsible for this vile act and the abducted wife of the deceased ruler.

The harrowing incident has left a void in the hearts of many, prompting an urgent call for justice and solidarity within the community.

As the investigation unfolds, the Kwara State Police Command remains dedicated to bringing those responsible to account for their actions and ensuring the safety of the abducted queen.
