**Notice Regarding Dress Code and Items for New Students at Redeemer’s University**

Dear new students of Redeemer’s University,

We would like to inform you of the approved list of items you are required to have ready for your resumption for the 2023/2024 academic session, as per the university management’s instructions.

**Approved List of Items for Fresh Students:**
Fresh students are expected to resume with the following items:

1. Pillow/bed sheet/duvet
2. Water Bucket/bowl
3. Mopping Stick/Bucket
4. Electric Thermostat Kettle (Not more than 1500 watts)
5. Electric Pressing Iron (Not more than 1500 watts)
6. Personal Provisions (beverages, cereals, etc.)
7. Decent dresses that conform with the University Dress Code
8. All documents (originals & photocopies) as attached to your admission letter

Please note that the following items are prohibited, and possessing them constitutes serious misconduct:

1. Medication of any kind
2. Addictive substances of any kind
3. Boiling Ring
4. Rice Cooker/Hot Plate
5. Noodles/Pasta
6. Trousers by Female Students (Joggers are permitted for sports on Saturdays)
7. Multi-Colored Jeans/Torn/Crazy Jeans
8. Necklace/Earrings/Rings by Male Students
9. Multiple ear piercings
10. Nose/other piercings aside from the ear

**Dress Code:**

The University places great importance on modest and appropriate dressing. Students are encouraged to develop and maintain a philosophy of dressing and grooming that aligns with the University’s values.

**Dress Code for Male Students:**

1. Male students should be appropriately dressed for University activities and special occasions, including lectures, matriculation, ceremonies, church services, and examinations. Corporate dressing during these events entails a shirt and necktie, trousers (with or without a jacket), and covered shoes. Every student in western attire must wear a necktie, with the knot up to the top button of the shirt.

2. Long-sleeved shirts should not be worn with unbuttoned sleeves or with the collars turned up.

3. Wearing scarves, braided hair, earrings, pulling down trousers to the hip line, piercing any part of the body, tattooing, wearing bangles, rings, and face-caps (except for sports) is strictly prohibited.

4. African traditional attire is allowed on Fridays and weekends, with leather slippers or half shoes.

5. Students should maintain well-cut hair that is regularly combed. Beards must be neat and well-kept.

6. Jeans are allowed with covered shoes. Jeans should be of one color, not frayed at the edges, torn, or patched.

7. Slippers and half shoes are not allowed on the University premises from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays.

8. T-shirts are only allowed for sports and weekends without official University activities.

9. Dressing should include the wearing and display of identity cards.

**Dress Code for Female Students:**

1. Female students must be corporately dressed for special occasions, including lectures, public lectures, ceremonies, matriculation, convocation, and examinations. Corporate dressing means a smart skirt suit, dress shirt on a smart skirt, or a smart dress with covered shoes.

2. All dresses and skirts must be at least three (3) inches below the knees.

3. Prohibited items for female students include sleeveless dresses, strapless blouses, over-clinging clothing, revealing blouses, stiletto shoes, trousers, bangles, rings, and face-caps (except for sports).

4. Hairstyles should be neat and appropriate, with no colored hair or attachments. Attachments should be of moderate length, not exceeding shoulder level.

5. Female students may wear low sandals or covered corporate shoes.

6. Track suits, tennis shoes, or sneakers are only allowed for sports activities.

7. Piercing of any part of the body, apart from the ear, is strictly prohibited.

8. Clothing and jewelry that do not adhere to the prescribed dress code will be confiscated.

9. Skirts should be worn with slips underneath.

10. Traditional African attire is allowed on Fridays and weekends, with leather slippers or half shoes.

11. T-shirt wearing is permitted for sporting activities and weekends without official University events.

12. Identity cards must be worn and displayed.

Compliance with these guidelines is a collective responsibility shared by both staff and students.
