FULAFIA to introduce new dress codes for students – VC; The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) is preparing to implement a new dress code for its students, and Vice-Chancellor Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman emphasizes the importance of democratizing contemporary university management practices.

In this regard, Abdul Rahman advocates for student involvement in the process of formulating the upcoming dress code. He asserts that for the code to be reasonable, actionable, and comprehensive, students must contribute to its development since it will determine their attire within the university environment.

Speaking at the event where new officials of the Students Representatives Council (SRC) and Students Integrity Club (SIC) were presented and sworn in, Abdul Rahman emphasizes his administration’s commitment to democratic practices in governing the student body and the university community as a whole.

He highlights the recent introduction of the Speak-UP Programme, which aims to provide students with additional channels to freely express their opinions on how the university management governs their lives and the desired changes they wish to see. Additionally, he mentions the placement of Suggestion Boxes in strategic locations throughout the university, encouraging students who may be hesitant to speak up to write down their views and suggestions.

Abdul Rahman firmly believes that as the world embraces democracy, FULafia students must be prepared to face the challenges and realities of the modern world in all aspects. He emphasizes that the democratization of university management practices plays a vital role in delivering high-quality education and achieving a distinguished status for the university.
