This strategic move aims to alleviate potential challenges encountered by candidates during the creation of profiles for the 2022/23 UTME/DE registration. By offering an alternative USSD code, JAMB aims to ensure a smoother and more efficient registration process for applicants. The introduction of the new code comes as a relief to candidates, particularly when considering the anticipated high volume of profile creation requests.

The 55019 and the newly introduced 66019 USSD codes will both serve as platforms for candidates to create their profiles before commencing the registration process. Specifically, candidates are required to send their National Identification Number (NIN) through either of these USSD codes. This step is crucial as it facilitates the retrieval of their details from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) database. Subsequently, candidates can proceed to any accredited centre for biometric capturing, ensuring a seamless continuation of the registration procedure.

This initiative follows the Board’s commitment to optimizing the registration process and eliminating any bottlenecks associated with profile creation. JAMB’s decision to implement an additional USSD code aligns with its ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance its services for the benefit of applicants partaking in the UTME/DE registration and examination exercises.

The Board’s proactive stance in adopting the 66019 USSD code underscores its dedication to providing a user-friendly and efficient registration experience. With this innovation, JAMB continues its stride towards embracing technological advancements to meet the evolving needs of candidates, further solidifying its position as a facilitator of accessible and credible tertiary education admission processes.

In retrospect, JAMB had hinted at plans to introduce an additional USSD code, recognizing the imperative to streamline profile creation and registration procedures. This foresight reflects the Board’s commitment to ensuring an inclusive and hassle-free registration process, optimizing convenience for candidates aspiring for higher education opportunities.

The introduction of the 66019 USSD code alongside the established 55019 code marks a pivotal step in simplifying and expediting the UTME/DE registration process, promising a smoother journey for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
