New guidelines from JAMB are forthcoming 2023 UTME; The Direct Entry (DE) and UTME registration processes would be separated starting in the 2023/2024 academic year, according to JAMB.

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) exams will henceforth be administered at all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers using laptops with at least 2 gigabytes (2GB) of RAM, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
In addition, the board forbids CBT centers from working with cyber cafes or tutorial facilities, stating that “any breach of the order, whether in part or whole, will lead to the cancellation of the licence of the erring CBT center.”Beginning in 2023, UTME registration and Direct Entry (DE) registration will no longer be combined, according to JAMB.
These are portions of the new policies that the board announced and were detailed in its Monday-published weekly bulletin.
According to the statement, the new developments were announced at the conclusion of a five-day retreat held in Abuja between Monday, September 19 and Friday, September 23.
No new Computer-Based Test (CBT) center would receive accreditation if it didn’t adhere to the new standards, according to JAMB. As a result, remote desktop protocol (RDP) or zero thin clients are no longer permitted in new CBT centers. Instead, laptop computer systems are required as clients.
“It became necessary for the board to modify its operations towards achieving far-reaching improvements on various issues emanating from the registration process, biometric challenges, and other operational procedures.
”JAMB announced it would introduce three required autobot tests – pre-accreditation, during Mock-UTME, and the dummy examination (which is held a day before the UTME – to certify the readiness of the centers – for the accreditation of the CBT centers.
Preventing IP address duplication and abuse was another important factor in the decision, the statement claimed.Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, also announced that all accredited CBT center registration officers would have their biometrics taken in advance of the test.Candidates must use at least two fingers to print their registration slip, according to JAMB. On the day of the exam, “either of the two fingers taken will be utilized for biometric verification before to entering the examination hall,” it stated.
Bad fingerprints
Candidates with poor fingerprint results would be scheduled as “Exemption Candidates” at the registration desk, and their registration slips would be color-coded differently from those of other candidates.
Such candidates, according to JAMB, would take their exam in Abuja on the final day of the national examination calendar, and their results wouldn’t be made public until after they had undergone the appropriate scrutiny.
