NUC approves take-off of 14 programmes at transportation varsity in Daura; The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the commencement of fourteen programs at the newly established Federal University of Transportation Daura, located in Katsina State.

NUC approves take-off of 14 programmes at transportation varsity in Daura

The confirmation came following a recent visit by the NUC resource verification team to the university.

Professor Umar Adam-Katsayal, the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of the university, disclosed this in an interview held in Katsina. The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 18, signed by Abubakar Girei, the acting Director of Academic Planning at the commission.

The letter stated that the full-time mode of these programs would begin at the Main Campus of the University from the 2023/2024 academic session.

The approved programs at the university include:

  1. B.Eng. Civil Engineering
  2. B.Eng. Electrical Electronics Engineering
  3. B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering
  4. B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering
  5. B.Eng. Railway Engineering
  6. B.Eng. Highway Engineering
  7. B.Sc. Aviation Management
  8. B.Sc. Transport Management
  9. B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  10. B.Sc. Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration
  11. B.Sc. Railway Transport Management
  12. B.Sc. Sea Port and Dry Port Management
  13. B.Sc. Inland Waterways Safety and Environmental Administration
  14. B.Sc. Maritime Economics

It’s important to note that the approval only covers the full-time mode of program delivery. Any changes to the program titles and nomenclature will require the NUC’s further approval.

The NUC conducted a resource verification assessment at the university on October 12, examining the human and material resources available for the institution’s commencement. The newly established university is named the ‘Muhammad Buhari University of Transportation Daura’.
