NYSC’s Rural Health Revolution: Free Healthcare Initiative Kicks Off in Niger; NYSC Launches Rural Health Initiative, Providing Free Healthcare to 500 Niger Residents.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has initiated its third-quarter Free Health Initiative for 500 Rural Dwellers (HIRD) in Niger State. This laudable program aims to provide free medical consultation, counselling, diagnosis, treatment, and medication to individuals residing in rural areas.

NYSC State Co-ordinator, Abdulwahab Alidat, officially launched the program in Pyata, Shata community, located in the Bosso Local Government Area of the state. The initiative, approved by Brig.-Gen. Yushau Ahmed, Director-General of NYSC, is conducted quarterly in various communities, with corps medical personnel reaching out to community members.

Alidat expressed her appreciation for the strong community turnout and urged residents to take advantage of the program to communicate their health concerns to the corps medical personnel for proper treatment. Medical cases requiring referral will be directed to higher healthcare facilities for comprehensive treatment.

District Head of Pyata, Ibrahim Umaru, extended gratitude to NYSC for the health initiative, which offers free healthcare services to the community. Likewise, Bosso Local Government Chairman, Ladidi Bawa, conveyed her appreciation to the Director-General of NYSC for selecting the community and the council as beneficiaries of this vital health program.

The council remains committed to collaborating with organizations seeking to benefit and develop the local community.

As part of the program, community members also received sensitization on malaria prevention and treatment by corps member Anietie Ime-Etuk, further promoting public health awareness and education.
