This decision was communicated by the university’s spokesperson, Abiodun Olarewaju, in a statement released on Monday. The move followed a meeting between the university’s management and the Student Union leadership earlier that day.

The statement explained that the meeting was convened in response to ongoing student protests seeking a reduction in the initial charges set by the university. During the meeting, the student leaders pressed for a 50 percent reduction, but the university management clarified that the revised charges represented the minimum necessary for the efficient operation of the institution.

Subsequently, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Adebayo Bamire, announced the revised fees. For returning students in the Humanities, the initial sundry charges of N89,200 have been reduced to N76,000, while new Humanities students will now pay N131,000 instead of the initial N151,200.

In the Sciences and Technology faculties, returning students will see their initial charges of N101,200 reduced to N86,000, while new students in these faculties will pay N141,000 instead of the initial N163,200.

Pharmacy and College of Health Sciences returning students will now pay N109,000, down from the initial N128,200. New students in these faculties will pay N164,000 instead of the previously announced N190,000.

The statement also mentioned that the fees could be paid in two equal instalments for the convenience of the students.
