When you use a cloth to stop bleeding either from a gunshot or stab wound, DON’T remove it no matter what

If it’s soaked, put another cloth on top and continue the pressure

Removing the soaked cloth disturbs the clotting process and starts afresh leading to more blood loss.

DON’T TRY TO REMOVE THE BULLET OR KNIFE!

Doing that leads to more blood loss. Leave in and try to move the person immediately.

Raise the bleeding part above the level of the heart, either arm or leg.

More importantly: Ensure that you’ve called for help and moving the person.

“What if it happens to be on the neck, how would one raise him above the heart?”

Raise the head and torso.
Chances are slim because of major blood vessels in the neck but still apply pressure!.
