TASUED Halts Exams Over Student Rape Crisis; In the past week, the student community has been facing a significant threat from armed robbers.

Following a disturbing incident on Tuesday, during which suspected armed robbers invaded the private female hostels of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ogun, the ongoing second-semester examinations have been temporarily suspended.

These criminals not only dispossessed the residents of their valuables but also allegedly subjected four female students to a traumatic experience.

The decision to halt the examinations was announced in a statement issued by TASUED’s registrar, Dapo Oke, and made public in Abeokuta. Mr. Oke explained that as soon as the institution’s security unit learned of the unfortunate events that unfolded around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, they acted swiftly.

In response to these distressing occurrences, Mr. Oke stated, “The university strongly condemns these repeated attacks on our students, particularly the heinous act of rape. The university, in collaboration with the state government and law enforcement agencies, is committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students, and we reassure students, parents, and guardians of our unwavering efforts in this regard.”

It should be noted that these criminal activities have been plaguing the Abapawa community of Ijegun, where many students reside. In a recent incident, robbers also targeted a hostel with 22 rooms, as reported by an anonymous student.
