Details and Features:

• Programme Overview: The MA Film Culture and Archiving Studies is a Knowledge Transfer initiative involving German and Nigerian institutions, marking a significant collaboration between Goethe Universität, Deutsches Film Institute & Film museum, Arsenal Institut für Film und Videokunst Berlin, and Nigerian Film Corporation/ National Film Institute, Jos, along with the University of Jos. Notably, this program is recognized as the first of its kind in Africa and one of about a dozen worldwide.
• Program Aims: a) Train scientific personnel for film and media archives. b) Train institutions of film culture across Africa. c) Build capacity for the preservation of the audiovisual heritage of Nigeria and Africa. d) Provide opportunities for greater employment, with over 90% of graduates from Germany already employed.
• Educational Eligibility: i) Bachelors’ Degree in Film Arts, or Theatre & Film Arts, or related disciplines. ii) B.Sc, BA, or HND in Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Arts/ Humanities, or Natural Sciences. iii) Minimum second-class lower division (2.2) degree or HND (lower credit) with a GPA of not less than 2.40. iv) Eligible candidates without a background in Theatre or Film will audition preliminary undergraduate courses. v) Basic O’ level results with a credit in English Language.
• Method of Application: To purchase the online application form, aspiring candidates should:
  1. Create an account on portal.unijos.edu.ng.
  2. Click on “Forms Application” and then “Masters Programme.”
  3. Fill in the Account Registration Form and activate the account.
  4. Log in and click on “Application Charge” to pay the application fee.
  5. Print the receipt upon successful payment.
  6. Visit portal.unijos.edu.ng, log in, and click on “My Profile” to fill in the online application form.
  7. Click “Submit” when all tabs are correctly completed.
• Important Notes: a. Use valid and functional email addresses and phone numbers for communication. b. Referee forms are sent electronically; provide valid contact details for referees. c. Corrections after completing the application form may attract a fee.
• Submission Deadline: Completed application forms, along with an application letter, must be returned to the institute before February 7th, 2024.
• Communication of Shortlisted Candidates: Shortlisted applicants will be notified on February 21st, 2024, via text messages and emails.
