UNILAG Releases 2023/2024 Admission into the School of Foundation Studies; The University of Lagos, in collaboration with several prestigious universities in the United Kingdom and China, namely the University of Bedfordshire, University of Central Lancashire, University of the West of England, De Montfort University Leicester, University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, University of Surrey, University of Salford Southampton, University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee Scotland, and Soochow University Suzhou P.R. ADMISSION INTO SCHOOL OF FOUNDATION STUDIES (FORMERLY FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES) 2023/2024 SESSION

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) invites applications from eligible candidates for admission into the School of Foundation Studies for the 2023/2024 Academic Session. Successful candidates who pass the approved examination administered by the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) will have the opportunity to be considered for Direct Entry admission into the 200 Level of Degree Programs at the University through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

They may also qualify for admission into partner universities in the United Kingdom and China, including the University of Bedfordshire, University of Central Lancashire, University of the West of England, De Montfort University Leicester, University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham, University of Surrey, University of Salford Southampton, University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee Scotland, and Soochow University China. It is important to note that the program does not currently accommodate visually impaired students and is strictly a non-residential program.

The School of Foundation Studies will offer an intensive one-year program aligned with the JUPEB syllabus. The program offers various subject combinations, which are essential for admission. Please refer to the provided list of subject combination groupings and their corresponding designations.

GAIN ADMISSION INTO ANY NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY WITHOUT JAMB – REGISTER FOR IJMB TODAY

Candidates applying for admission to the School of Foundation Studies must possess a minimum of five credits, including English Language, Mathematics, and three relevant subjects, obtained at one sitting in the SSCE/WASSC, GCE/O/L, or NECO examinations, with results obtained before registration.

To complete the School of Foundation Studies e-application form, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Visit the School of Foundation Studies application site at applications.unilag.edu.ng.
  2. Click on the School of Foundation Studies under the Prospective Students menu.
  3. Review the information regarding subject combinations related to your desired course of study for Direct Entry admission.
  4. Fill out the Pre-Application Form to obtain a payment reference number (PRN) using the applicant’s correct name as stated in the birth certificate and other relevant documents.
  5. Make the required payment at any commercial bank in Nigeria using the payment reference number (PRN).
  6. The application form fee is N25,000.00 (non-refundable), inclusive of online practice tests but excluding bank charges.
  7. Return to the applications site at applications.unilag.edu.ng.
  8. Log in with the PRN as the username and the applicant’s surname in lowercase as the password.
  9. Complete the application form and print two copies for personal reference.
  10. The examination pass will be available online one week before the examination date. Print a copy for personal use.
  11. Practice questions will be accessible online one week before the examination date. Log in using the application number as the username and the surname in lowercase as the password.

Important Dates:

  • Application period: Monday, June 12, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023.
  • Entrance examination: Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Distance Learning Institute (DLI) in the University of Lagos.
  • Examination mode: Computer-Based Testing (CBT), consisting of multiple-choice questions.
  • Examination subjects: Mathematics, English Language (20 questions each), and three other relevant subjects based on the candidate’s choice of subject combination (15 questions each), totaling 85 questions to be answered within one hour. Candidates selecting Mathematics as one of their subject combinations will also need to choose Further Mathematics as a subject in the entrance examination.
  • Results and merit admission will be published on www.unilag.edu.ng.

It is crucial to note that admission into undergraduate programs at the University is subject to the approved capacity for each program. Therefore, success in the JUPEB examination does not guarantee admission into the preferred course of choice. In cases where there are more successful candidates than the approved capacity for certain courses, the University may employ additional measures of testing or selection.
