Applications are now open for an MSc graduate opportunity in applied quantitative ecology at the Wildlife Biology Program, University of Montana (UM). The focus of this project is on developing and refining abundance estimation techniques to enhance understanding of the impact of management on large mammal populations in Montana, US.

The successful candidate will work closely with researchers, natural resource professionals, and field technicians to evaluate how animal distribution and behavior influence the estimation of ungulate population size.

Eligibility Requirements:

Interested applicants for the University of Montana Graduate Scholarship must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, statistics, computer science, or closely related disciplines.
• Possess experience in at least three of the following qualifications:
  • Programming language proficiency
  • Spatial analysis experience
  • Management and analysis of wildlife monitoring data
  • Field data collection experience

Required Documents: Applicants are expected to submit the following documents:

1. A cover letter addressing the following points (300 words each):
   • Motivations for pursuing a graduate degree in the specified topic and description of professional goals.
   • Illustration of adaptability, initiative, follow-through, and capacity to learn new skills, and bring the project to completion.
