Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, the Head of the WAEC National Office, shared this information in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Monday. The examination is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 17.

This marks the first time the council is deploying the CBT platform for a private candidates’ examination, having previously used it for aptitude tests and assessing school proficiency in various fields.

Dr. Dangut assured that the council is well-prepared for the examination, with state-of-the-art CBT-accredited centres across the country. These centres are equipped with excellent facilities, including efficient computers, backup systems, power generators, and well-trained personnel to proctor the examination.

He emphasized that there would be no reliance on external internet services, ensuring a stable internet connection in every centre. Additionally, there will be a consistent power supply, and the computer bandwidth in chosen centres is in optimal condition.

To address concerns about candidates’ familiarity with computer use, especially in some parts of the country, Dr. Dangut assured the public that the process is straightforward and would not affect candidates’ performance. He mentioned that there would be sensitization efforts through various media channels and a free Mock CBT for the WASSCE to familiarize candidates with the system.

The WAEC boss emphasized that the CBT platform is user-friendly, allowing candidates to choose between using a mouse or keyboard for navigation. He expressed confidence that candidates would find the experience fascinating and thrilling.

Dr. Dangut urged candidates to strive for academic excellence, emphasizing its pivotal role in opening doors to various opportunities in life.
