About Scholarship:

The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) is established by the Beijing Municipal Government to provide tuition fees fully or partially to international students studying or applying to study in Beijing. The scholarship covers a range of degree levels, including Undergraduate, Master’s, Doctoral, as well as advanced studies, long-term language study, and visiting scholar programs.

Eligibility:

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.
2. Educational background and age limits vary depending on the level of study:
   • Undergraduate: Completed senior high school with good grades and under the age of 30.
   • Master’s degree: Bachelor’s degree, under the age of 35.
   • Doctoral degree: Master’s degree, under the age of 40.
   • Advanced studies: Undergraduate degree or second year of university course, under the age of 50.
   • Long-term language study: High school diploma, under the age of 60.
   • Visiting scholar candidates: Master’s or higher degree, under the age of 50.
3. Language proficiency requirements are determined by individual higher learning institutions based on the academic programs.
4. Applicants receiving financial support from other Chinese government scholarship programs or organizations/agencies are not eligible for the Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students.

Scholarship Benefits: The Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students covers tuition fees. Depending on the applicant’s status, the allowance for scholarship students varies:

• Doctoral degree: 40,000 RMB/year
• Master’s degree: 30,000 RMB/year
• Bachelor degree: 20,000 RMB/year
• Senior training or long-term language program: 10,000 RMB/year
• Exchange students or students with outstanding contributions to international education in Beijing: 5,000 RMB/year

Duration of Scholarships:

• Applicants for Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral Degrees: Up to 4 years.
• Chinese language training or relevant advanced studies: Up to one year.
• Scholars and international students for specialized training: Up to one year.
• Exchange students or students with outstanding contributions: Up to one year.
