Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Celtic, and Rangers will learn their first opponents for the 2022–23 competition during the Champions League group-stage draw on Thursday.
What time is the draw?
On Thursday, August 25, at 5 p.m. (BST), the UEFA Champions League group stage draw will take place. Istanbul, Turkey is where the drawing ceremony is taking place.
What groups of teams are in the draw?
Six additional teams secured their spots through the play-offs, and 26 teams automatically qualified for the Champions League group stage based on their league standing in 2021–2022.

For Thursday’s draw, the 32 teams will be divided into four seeding pots.
The holders, Real Madrid, the Europa League champions, Eintracht Frankfurt, and the winners of the six highest-ranked countries that did not qualify through one of the 2021–2022 continental titles will make up Pot 1. Club coefficient rankings will determine pots two through four.
There won’t be any all-English matches until the knockout round because no team is allowed to play a team from their own league at this stage. Any additional restrictions will be confirmed by UEFA prior to the draw ceremony.

The full fixture list for the group stage will be revealed after the draw but UEFA has confirmed the matchday dates.

The round of 16 draw will take place on November 7 at 12pm CET in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, which hosted Liverpool’s renowned comeback triumph over AC Milan in 2005, will host the 2022–23 Champions League final on June 10, 2023.
