JAMB now allows HB pencils in CBT exams
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made an important announcement for candidates participating in the 2024 UTME mock examination scheduled for March 7th, 2024.
For the first time, candidates will be allowed to bring an ordinary HB pencil into the examination hall, specifically for numerical analysis purposes.
This clarification comes from JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who responded to candidates’ inquiries about whether HB pencils would be permitted inside the exam hall.
The Board has traditionally banned pencils and other items to prevent misuse, but has revised its stance for the upcoming Mock-UTME and the main examination beginning on Friday, 19th April 2024.
Candidates attending the mock exam and requiring writing materials for calculations are encouraged to bring their HB pencils along with an extra copy of their mock slip printout only.
It’s important to remember that other items remain prohibited in the exam hall. This includes watches, pens or biros, mobile phones or similar electronic devices, spy reading glasses, calculators, hard disks or similar storage devices, books or any reading material, cameras, recorders, and microphones. Possession of any of these items in the exam hall is strictly forbidden.
