Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, the Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, has officially declared one Salam Ayodeji as a wanted individual. Ayodeji is being sought after for allegedly issuing threats against the lives of a couple believed to be adherents of Isese (traditionalist) practices in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The issue emerged when a viral video on social media featured Ayodeji confronting a couple named Tajudeen and his wife at their shop situated in Alaran compound, Ilorin. The couple’s business involves selling TV sets. In the video, Ayodeji claimed to have the support of the state police command as he accused the couple of practicing Isese.

During a meeting involving the families of both Ayodeji and the traditionalists, the Commissioner of Police addressed the situation. She instructed Ayodeji’s family to produce him, as he is wanted for alleged acts of terrorism and character defamation. The Commissioner expressed disappointment in Ayodeji’s family for not guiding him away from his criminal conduct, emphasizing that his behavior could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

The Commissioner posed questions, asking whether Tajudeen’s wife being from Osun State automatically categorized her as a traditionalist, and she questioned whether there are no Muslims in Osun State.

Furthermore, the Commissioner reprimanded the Alaran family for driving the couple out of their area and refunding their shop’s rent against the couple’s wishes.

The Commissioner demanded that Ayodeji’s family locate their son and present him to the police by Wednesday, August 30. She also stated that the police have initiated a manhunt for him.

In response, members of Ayodeji’s family revealed that they have been searching for the suspect since the previous Friday, as his phone has been unreachable.

Tajudeen, adopting a resigned attitude, entrusted the matter to fate and divine intervention. He mentioned that Ayodeji’s family had approached him seeking forgiveness.
