Ndidi: Nigerian’s impressive performance in spite of Leicester City’s disastrous performance against Brighton and Hove Albion

      Wilfred Ndidi

Despite the Foxes’ loss, the defender’s passing accuracy was among the qualities of his game that stood out.

Although Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi gave up a penalty in Leicester City’s 5-2 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion, he still put up a strong individual effort.

Although Ndidi fouled Leandro Trossard inside the penalty area and subsequently gave up a penalty, his overall performance against the Seagulls cannot be overshadowed.

Ndidi led his team in clearances made on defense with six for the Foxes. In that respect, Johny Evans was second to Ndidi after making four clearances.

James Maddison’s two total tackles were one less than the Super Eagles player’s two. Ndidi recorded two shot blocks in addition to one interception.

When compared to Boubakary Soumare, whose passing accuracy stood at 96.3%, Ndidi’s performance was second best with an impressive passing accuracy of 88.2%.

In terms of passes, the 25-year-old also topped the list with 68, nine more than Evans, who is in second place.

With 25 Premier League starts under his belt, Kelechi Iheanacho has now scored 15 goals and contributed five assists. His passing accuracy for Leicester was 87.5%, which ranks third in the league.

Daniel Amartey, who came in in the second half, completed 17 passes with an accuracy of 82.4% after taking Youri Tielemans’ place in the 72nd minute.

The second goal for Leicester was scored by Patson Daka, who completed 13 passes successfully and had a 69.2% passing accuracy rating. The Zambian contributed significantly to the defensive effort as well, blocking one shot, making one interception, and making two tackles.

During the seven-goal thriller game at Amex Stadium, both clubs also had distinct overall records.

Since August-November 1982, a similar run of seven games, Brighton have gone unbeaten in their previous seven league home games (W4 D3). This is their longest home unbeaten streak in the top division.

Leicester City has lost six games this season and has given up 16 goals. When they lost each of their first six games in the top division but still managed to stay up, they had 16 at this point in the season in 1983-84.

In their 364th match at this level, the Seagulls scored five goals for the first time ever in a top-flight game.

Leicester’s Sunday games have the highest goals-per-game average in the Premier League out of the 65 teams who have played more than 100 games on a single day of the week. In 111 Sunday games, the Foxes have scored 190 goals and given up 184, for an average of 3.4.
