Breaking News: The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly declared the commencement of an indefinite nationwide strike starting from Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

This announcement came following a joint press conference held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in Abuja, where the leadership of both unions resolved to halt activities across the country beginning October 3, 2023.

Previously, a dispute had led to the NLC conducting a 2-day warning strike independently, without the participation of the TUC. However, the leaders of both labor unions have now resolved their differences and united in their decision to initiate an indefinite nationwide strike.

The joint action by the NLC and TUC is in response to the Federal Government’s failure to address the hardships and socioeconomic challenges resulting from the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

This is an evolving situation, and further developments may occur.
