OffaPoly Student Found Dead In Her Apartment – Murder?

Toyin Bamidele, a female Higher National Diploma (HND) student of food technology at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, was tragically discovered dead in her off-campus apartment.

Unknown assailants reportedly hacked Bamidele to death on Thursday in the apartment she rented outside the school premises. The incident was confirmed by Folake Oyinloye, the acting head of the school’s public relations unit, who stated that the management, in collaboration with security agencies, has initiated an investigation.

Expressing condolences to Bamidele’s family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology, Oyinloye urged anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward.

This unfortunate event follows the recent death of Adaeze, a 200-level accounting student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), who was found dead in her off-campus apartment in Aluu, Rivers State, two weeks prior. UNIPORT management disclosed the discovery of a bottle containing an undisclosed substance beside Adaeze.

Additionally, on October 22, Yosi Yusuf, a female student at Gombe State College of Education, lost her life to a stab wound in her off-campus residence at Zazzagawa Quarters in Billiri. Local reports indicated that a kitchen knife was found in her room, and the injury sustained from the incident led to her untimely death in the early hours of that Sunday.

These incidents highlight the pressing need for increased security measures both on and off campus and emphasize the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
