Students in Kwara protest the lack of payment of lecturers’ salaries.

Many of the students, including females, carried placards that criticized the college administration for the failure.

On Wednesday, Kwara College of Education students in Llorin held a nonviolent demonstration to demand payment of their lecturers’ unpaid wages.

Many of the students, including females, carried placards that criticized the college administration for the failure.

The protesters blocked traffic and pedestrians from moving for several hours along Lagos Road, in the sawmill area, and on some major streets in the state capital.

Drivers who were traveling through the protest area immediately started looking for alternate routes to get to their various destinations.

Various service providers and product vendors, including a nearby gas station, hastily closed and cleared the areas.

The institution’s president of the Students Union Government (SUG) explained that they wanted to express their support for their lecturers by issuing a statement.

The provost, Jimoh Syinla-Agaka, was said to be advising management on how to handle the situation in the college.
