Teenager nabbed for traffic robbery in Lagos
The suspect was detained on December 10 and was a part of a three-man gang that operated in Otedola Bridge, Lagos, between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
Police from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have detained Jason Joseph, 19, for allegedly using dangerous weapons to rob people in the streets of Lagos.
This is stated in a statement that RRS published on its official Twitter account on Tuesday.
According to the report, the suspect was detained on December 10 while participating in a three-man gang that operated in Otedola Bridge, Lagos, between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
When one of Jason’s victims spotted him in the area at 5:00 in the morning and informed the local RRS team, Jason was apprehended.
According to the report, “He has admitted to the police on numerous occasions that he operated in Otedola Bridge from 9:00 p.m. until dawn with three other suspects who live in Oshodi.”
It claimed the gang, which was established soon after the #EndSARS protests, committed numerous robberies in the neighborhood and used daggers and jack knives to rob people in the middle of the street.
According to the RRS, the suspect was apprehended shortly after Yinka Egbeyemi, the RRS commander, ordered his team to apprehend every criminal in the area.
The suspect, according to the squad, was helping them apprehend additional gang members.
