UNILORIN to return virtual lectures for students

Due to the ongoing transportation issues that continue to limit university students’ movement, the administration of the University of Ilorin plans to reinstate virtual lectures.

In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, the university’s director of corporate affairs, Kunle Akogun, claimed steps were being taken to make things easier.

“Management of the University of Ilorin is profoundly worried about the magnitude of the transportation issues our students are currently experiencing,” the statement stated.

“We want to reassure everyone that steps are being taken to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

To lessen the need for a significant number of students to be on the road during peak hours, the administration is examining the idea of reinstating the virtual lecture option, especially for large classes.

Additionally, the management is currently in communication with the Kwara State Government regarding the necessity of expediting the completion of the flyover project on the University Road/Tipper Garage axis as well as the provision of more strategic interventions to lessen the burden on our students.

The administration requests that students be patient as attempts are made to address the terrible transportation issues.

Although plans had previously been made to bring in large buses for the bulk movement of students, they could not yet be used because of the University Road Flyover construction.

“The welfare of our students remain the mainstay of the management and this will not be compromised for any reason,” the statement added.
