The bill converting Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, into the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo was approved by the State House of Assembly on November 25.

In his remarks Monday at his office’s Executive Chamber following his consent to the measure, Mr. Makinde referred to the institution’s upgrade to date as a major success of his administration.

He said that “as contained in our Roadmap to Accelerated Development in 2023,” education remained one of the administration’s top priorities.

He stated that additional necessary procedures for the College’s actualization of its upgrade to university status would be finished in a few days.

Regardless of their political affiliation, members of the State House of Assembly were praised by the governor for passing the law quickly and effectively.

Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the House, had earlier stated that the state legislature gave priority to everything that would promote development in the state.

Governor Makinde was praised by Mr. Ogundoyin for his efforts to better the lives of the people of Oyo State.

If eventually recognized by the National University Commission, the school would become the third university owned by the state (NUC).
