11,639 teachers nationwide have passed professional qualifying exams administered by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

While overseeing the exam in Abuja, the TRCN’s acting director of certification and licensing, Jacinta Ogboso, revealed this.

“We have 11,639 candidates nationwide who have enrolled for this exam, and 982 of them are registered at this center in FCT,” she stated.

Ms. Ogboso applauded the smoothness of the exercise’s execution, noting that TRCN began the exam in 2017 and continued to refine its procedures.

She stated that TRCN had established a procedure of accreditation through a platform that the ICT department had designed in order to combat misconduct in the conduct of the exercise.

In order to prevent candidates from being impersonated, she noted that the platform could identify the real persons who had actually registered for the exam.

“We began PQE in October 2017 and have continued it ever since, with the exception of 2018–2019, when we had three batches instead of two.

This is the second diet of the year; the first two were the May/June and the October/November diets.

Speaking on the significance of the exam, Ms. Ogboso noted that since teaching is a profession, it must be practiced consistently to provide effective results.

She stated that candidates for teaching licenses in the nation and abroad had three chances to write the exam.

According to her, Ondo and Kaduna both had an equal number of registered teachers, while the FCT had the greatest number of applications, followed by Lagos and Anambra.

“We no longer rely on academic credentials.

“We are certain that the persons coming into the classroom to teach our children are genuinely professionally trained after their academic qualification, thus this exam is crucial.

If you don’t pass the exam, TRCN won’t register you, and if TRCN hasn’t recognized you as a teacher, you won’t be registered as a teacher in Nigeria or anywhere else in the globe.

The majority of Nigerian teachers, she continued, were aware of the significance of the certification and hurried to take the test in order to obtain their licenses and begin working as professional educators.

She consequently pledged that the examination results, which began on Thursday, will be available in two weeks.
