UNHCR University Corridors for Refugees (UNICORE) Project 2024 for African Students; The UNICORE Project, an initiative by UNHCR, is dedicated to empowering refugees from select African countries by offering them scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in Italy.

This transformative project aims to bridge the education gap for refugees, embodying the belief in the power of education to foster inclusive learning environments and enrich academic communities with diverse perspectives and experiences.

The deadline to apply for the UNICORE Project 2024 is 15th April 2024.

About UNICORE Award:

The UNICORE Project facilitates access to higher education for refugees residing in Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, offering a chance to study at one of 41 Italian universities. Notably, the Florence School of Transnational Governance (STG) will welcome a student into its Master in Transnational Governance programme, starting September 2024.

This initiative reflects the European University Institute’s commitment to internationalization, inclusion, and the transformative impact of education.

Since its inception in 2019, UNICORE has granted over 250 scholarships to students from conflict-affected African countries, partnering with 45 universities across Italy.

Scholarship Type:

This is a postgraduate scholarship opportunity.

Eligibility:

Candidates from Kenya, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe are encouraged to apply. Specific application requirements are published by each participating university, covering a variety of academic programs.

Scholarship Location:

The scholarship will be hosted across numerous prestigious Italian universities, including but not limited to Università di Bari, Università di Bergamo, and Università di Bologna, among others.

Selected students will enjoy a comprehensive support package that includes a monthly scholarship, orientation and academic tutoring, free local transport and accommodation, teaching materials, computers, telephones, SIM cards, legal assistance, and more, aimed at ensuring a smooth and enriching academic experience in Italy.

How to Apply:

Applicants can apply to a maximum of two universities. The selection process is managed independently by each university, which sets its own criteria and admissions procedures.
