FG Reintroduces History In Basic Education Curriculum; 13 years after it was abandoned, history has been reinstated in the basic education curriculum, according to the federal government.

3,700 history teachers have been selected for the first round of training for improved teaching of the subject, according to Adamu Adamu, Minister of Education, who was speaking at the flag-off ceremony on November 24 in Abuja in the person of Minister of State for Education Goodluck Nanah Opiah.

The removal of the topic, he said, was a mistake that had unfavorable effects, including putting Nigeria’s continued existence as a nation in jeopardy. Therefore, the topic was brought back, he said.

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, together with other significant figures from the field of education, attended the ceremony.
