PhD Scholarships in the Industrial Transformation Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy from the Australian Research Council; A new PhD scholarship is now available to work at the newly established ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy (GlobH2E)

International climate targets necessitate immediate reductions in emissions. Hydrogen is expected to play a critical role in the decarbonization of transportation and heavy-emitting industries such as steel, cement, and paper. However, there are numerous hydrogen value chains, technologies, and associated life cycles, ranging from production to storage to use and disposal. To ensure that problem shifting does not occur in the future, alternative hydrogen value chains and their environmental impact reduction potential in various heavy-emitting industries must be evaluated technologically and environmentally.

As a result, the project’s goal is to investigate the environmental impact and potential reduction potential of various hydrogen value chains, as well as their life cycle technology options from a system-of-system perspective.

Eligibility

Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering with Honours 1 or higher. Previous experience with Life Cycle Assessment, System of System Modelling, and the Hydrogen Value Chain is preferred.

This scholarship is open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and foreign nationals.

For three years, the benefits are $33,413 per year.

A $10,000 bonus may also be available for qualified candidates.

Applications are open until the end of December 2022, unless previously awarded; applicants are encouraged to submit their expressions of interest as soon as possible.
