9 ACTIVITIES TO ENGAGE YOUR TODDLER WHILE YOU COOK DINNER
Sometimes, being a mom can be a challenging role. You have to cook meals most times, as well as juggle other house chores while taking care of the family.
In situations where you have a toddler or a preschooler that is past the age of being carried around, it can be quite a daunting task when you constantly need ways to keep them happy and busy at the same time.
It’s an undisputed fact that the toddler age, is one the hardest stage for parents: they seem to have endless energy that can often leave you desperate for ways to keep them occupied.
They want to explore, touch and try everything, at the same time, they need your guidance to ensure their safety.
To save yourself some stress, it is important you have a number of different activities always planned, so they can easily hop from one to another.
Here are some ideas on what you can do to keep them occupied while you’re busy in the kitchen.
1. Washing food and PlayingThis combines two toddler’s favorite things; Responsibility and water.
You can put your little one to task by letting them help wash a few pieces of food in the kitchen. This will help you get dinner completely cooked before he gets bored.
In addition, you can also fill up the sink with warm water, give them some kitchen utensils, a container or two, and let them play. It’s important you expect a wet floor and expect to change their clothes afterward.
Always make sure you put a towel down before they start playing. This helps to speed up cleaning afterward.Make them understand the “rules” of this play, which are; no big splashing or dumping water intentionally on the counters or the floor.
Often times, they typically stick to the rules because they want to be able to keep playing.
2. DIY Drum Set
This activity is exciting for kids, but only if you don’t mind the loud noise.Often times, kids love toys that make loud noises so they’ll love this activity.
Pull out some various items from your kitchen for your child to drum on, then give them some other items to bang on them with.
Kitchen drum objects could be pots, pans, bowls, etc. Great drumsticks could be wooden spoons or spatula – since they won’t be able to harm themselves with such objects.
Set up all the items in one area and let your child have some fun. Sing along with them, dance to their music while cooking.
3. CD Stacking
Do you have some old, scratched CDs or DVDs sitting around? Put them to use and let your child play with them. Let your child stack the discs on the CD holder. They’ll stay entertained for a while trying to put the discs onto the plastic spindle.
They can stack them all on, then take them all off and do it over and over again as much as they’d like.
At first, your child may have difficulties putting the discs on the holder, but after a lot of practice, they’ll get the hang of it.
4. Cutlery Sorting
You could also encourage your little one to help you sort your cutleries without the knives, in other to avoid them getting hurt.
To make this activity more interesting, you can offer them your metal cutlery similar to these. The weight is more interesting for them to hold and gets thrown less often.
If they do this often, with time, they’ll love helping you sort the cutlery whenever they get the chance.
5. Foil Wrapped Toys
Another great idea is to wrap some of your child’s toys for them to unwrap while you cook. It’s the perfect way to keep them occupied for a long time.
Instead of wrapping them in wrapping paper, use foil. That way, you won’t have to use tape to hold it together and it’ll hold up better when you wrap it around the toy.
The more toys wrapped, the longer they will spend unwrapping them. So, make sure you wrap enough to give you the time you need in the kitchen.
It’s sure to keep them so focused on what they are doing that they won’t bother you while you are cooking.
6. Placemats
How about letting your toddler create custom placemats?
Set out some paper and markers or crayons and – have your toddler color a sheet as a placemat for each member of the family. The results will give you a great discussion topic at suppertime. You can also make reusable placemats by laminating paper, then letting your kids draw on them with dry-erase markers.
7. Cook up a story.
Having your child in the kitchen with you is a great time to tell each other stories. You could try using kitchen items for inspiration.
Storytelling often times, help children organize their thoughts, learn new vocabulary and make communication easier. This will help boost their self-esteem.
Tip: Your child will love hearing about the main character that greatly resembles him.

One of the most important elements of a film (and of storytelling generally) is how it makes the audience feel.Characters, dialogue, music, sound, lighting; these are all tools used by film makers to control our emotions and our impressions.
Another tool is set design — and, specifically, architecture.Architecture is often inseparable from the narrative and the atmosphere of a film.
Blade Runner would not be Blade Runner without the neon streets and cyberpunk skyscrapers of its famously dystopian city.
Nor The Hunchback of Notre Dame without its Gothic spires and gargoyles.Directors, set designers, and artists always make very careful choices about where things happen and what those places look like.
It feeds the audience crucial information and influences how we feel.
They say a picture paints a thousand words; we could say that a building tells a thousand stories.When we see the cottage in Snow White or the farm in Star Wars we already know, without being told, an awful lot about the people who live there.
Humble, rustic, decent folk.
We can break this down into purely architectural terms.A cottage or farm is usually “vernacular”, meaning it was built from local materials (wood, mudbricks etc.) according to immediate local needs, without professional architects or engineers.
Shrek built his own hut.
If we simply imagine Ron Weasley living in a Modernist mansion, or Frodo in a Gothic castle, we can see how important architecture is to storytelling.They’re both ridiculous suggestions because they contradict everything central about those characters and where they come from.
Put simply, architecture is identity.It’s hard to make a film about the Middle Ages without Medieval architecture, or about the 1920s without Art Deco.
And so, to make something feel alien, you render it totally unrecognisable.
But, alongside information, these choices also convey emotion.Think of the Shire. We can see that hobbits are humble folk, but its architecture and idyllic environment also make us feel peaceful, safe, and so on.
The film makers want us to feel at home here.
And on the flipside we have villains, whose architecture is invariably monumental and imposing, intended to make us feel terror, unease, and dread.The Emperor’s tower on the Death Star and the Evil Queen’s castle are two versions of the same thing.
It makes sense for the Eye of Sauron to be atop the ghastly Barad-dûr: an intimidating, nightmarish tower.If the Eye of Sauron were in a little wooden cottage it might be unsettling in its own way, but not quite as intimidating, nor as darkly impressive.
So what does architecture do in films? It gives us very clear information and it makes us feel very specific, very strong emotions.And there is a consistent model for this, hence why heroes and villains are inevitably associated with their particular forms of architecture.
But none of this is surprising; we know it implicity.What’s more interesting is that the feelings we get from architecture in cinema — comfort, terror, mystery, majesty, atmosphere, character — also apply to real life.
The point is that film makers take architecture from the real world — along with all their pre-existing connotations — and use that to tell their stories.They didn’t create the associations between thatched cottages and tranquillity or dark towers and fear; they borrowed them.
And yet architecture’s emotional power doesn’t receive as much attention as it deserves.People talk about beauty, function, styles, and movements in a fairly abstract way, but cinema teaches us that architecture is inseparable from character and emotion, for good or for bad.
The difference between Bag End and Barad-dûr isn’t just about architectural style (of course), but about emotional impact.And this is also true in real life.
The difference between suburbia and an old town isn’t only their appearance, but how they make us feel.
People have always known architecture has power, of course.Hence why the US has so much neoclassical architecture (to evoke Rome & Greece).
Or why Brutalism broke with established architectural tradition (to symbolise a genuinely different society, and hopefully a better one).
But this isn’t about the political, religious, or economic meanings and uses of architecture — it’s about feelings.Alas, the question of what architecture produces which feelings is fascinating, but now is not the time; noticing architecture’s emotive power is the first step.
Architecture affects how we feel, even when we don’t realise or want it to.Film makers know this better than anyone; their lesson is that the emotional impact of a building — on people living or working in it, or just passing by — must surely be a critical part of its design
This is a real place. It is a housing estate called Les Espaces d’Abraxas, built near Paris in 1982.And it’s one of the most important buildings in the world…
Built from 1978-82 in Noisy-le-Grand, a suburb ten miles east of Paris, it was designed by the Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill, who died last year.It, and other eye-catching buildings nearby, have recently been captured in detail by the photographer Laurent Kronental.
Bofill’s architectural firm was based in a converted cement factory called La Fábrica, not far from Barcelona.He was a Communist in his youth who fled from Spain, where he wasn’t welcome under the rule of Franco — he had been arrested twice.
Bofill slowly but surely became one of the 20th century’s most distinctive and unusual architects.He readily drew on Classical and Vernacular architecture, but played fast and loose with the rules to create buildings which, though rooted in the past, are distinctly modern.
In the 1970s he was hired by the French government to design an estate in one of the New Towns being built around Paris.These New Towns were intended to deal with the rapid urbanisation sweeping France, and to provide decent social housing for the growing population.
These Parisian suburbs are filled with several remarkable construction projects, ranging from the Tours Aillaud in Nanterre, described by one critic as “a piece of social scar tissue, gimmicky, condescending alphaville modernism”…
To Les Arènes de Picasso, also in Noisy-le-Grand, which is part of the New Town of Marne-la-Vallée, designed by Manuel Núñez Yanowsky.
It was into this environment that Ricardo Bofill, a rising architectural star, was brought.His stated aim was to “make an emblematic monument in a very poorly made area” and bring to the working classes the sort of architecture previously reserved for the wealthy.
The result is something rather astonishing, and quite unlike anywhere else on earth.Some love it and others hate it, but Bofill wanted aesthetics to be a universal possession, and for beauty to be freely available, regardless of a person’s socio-economic background.
It almost feels like you’ve asked AI to generate modern architecture as if it was built by the Romans.The result is somehow intimidating and inspiring at the same time, sitting somewhere between Art Deco and the most imposing of Soviet edifices.
Les Espaces d’Abraxas is often called “postmodern” architecture — this is meant very literally.Bofill was responding directly to Modern Architecture (in the broadest sense), which had conquered the world in the 1950s and dominated construction in the decades that followed WWII.
Because it wasn’t only France that was dealing with rapid urbanisation and population growth.In other countries, such as Britain, it was either to Brutalism or the so-called International Style that architects turned, producing things like the Alexandra Estate in the 1960s:
Or, more commonly, the huge high rise apartment blocks that now dominate the outskirts of many European cities.Population was rising and housing had to be provided, and governments turned to modern architects like Erno Goldfinger, who designed London’s Trellick Tower.
All of this architecture was rooted in the Bauhaus School of Germany in the 1920s and 1930s, dominated by architects like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, who took his love of glass curtain walls and simple forms to the USA, where he designed the Seagram Building:
Though the chief Modern Architectu was perhaps Le Corbusier, the Swiss mastermind who designed the Ville Savoye in 1931.It was this sort of design that inspired architects all around the world for decades.
Though Le Corbusier’s vision of an ideal housing estate was something like this, the Plan Voisin, which he proposed for Paris and which was very nearly built.Monolithic & highly regulated.
Bofill sought to create something with real character and personality, as opposed to the rectangular blocks and whitewashed walls that defined the architecture of Le Corbusier and, by extension, so many of the housing projects that appeared between the 1960s and 1980s.A rebel.
And that’s exactly what he did in Les Espaces d’Abraxas, using precisely the same modern methods and materials — concrete, steel, glass, prefabrication — as everybody else.This isn’t what we usually associate with the architecture of the 1970s, but that’s what it is.
Of course, there’s a big gulf between how something looks or the intellectual concepts behind it and the experience of the people who actually live there.Like so many postwar housing projects, Les Espaces d’Abraxas has not been an unqualified success; it was nearly demolished.
Still, it shot Bofill to international acclaim at the time and he went on to design many more iconic buildings around France, Spain, and elsewhere.Les Espaces d’Abraxas itself is now most famous as a filming location for the Hunger Games…
Bofill offered an alternative to what we think of as Modern Architecture, and wanted to provide genuinely uplifting, inspiring, interesting, and beautiful for the people who lived in it.He was the anti-Le Corbusier, and radically opposed places like England’s Park Hill Estate.
Perhaps Les Espaces d’Abraxas failed, though that is a question only its residents can answer.If so, it is only one of many crumbling 20th century utopias, failed visions of a better world that never quite materialised, and with which the world is still dealing.
But the world’s continuing fascination with Les Espaces d’Abraxas, usually positive but sometimes negative, suggests Bofill achieved something special by choosing to do what was unique when everybody else was doing the same thing.What can we learn from Les Espaces d’Abraxas?
This is the town of Shibam in Yemen, known as the “Manhattan of the Desert”
But it’s much older than Manhattan — these skyscrapers are 500 years old…
The ancient city of Shibam is in Hadhramaut, in central Yemen.Hadhramaut is a huge region in the far south of the Arabian Peninsula, dominated by mountains, deserts, and wadis — large, dry valleys created by infrequent but sudden flash floods.
Shibam is in a huge wadi, as you can see in the photograph below.Its unusual design — a cluster of fortified towers surrounded by a wall — was largely a result of defensive necessity: to protect the city, once a wealthy trading outpost, from rivals and wandering bandits.
Over the centuries a complex system was developed for managing floods, storing rainwater, and using them to irrigate the crops which fan out around Shibam.The city was built on a shallow rocky outcrop lying slightly above the wadi floor to protect it from flooding.
These towers, some of which are 11 storeys tall, are made with wooden frames and mudbricks — a mixture of earth, water, reeds, and other binding materials baked in the sun.But mudbricks erode quickly and require frequent maintenance…
So although many of these towers date to the 16th century, they have been remodelled, repaired, and restored time and time again, with knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.The skyscrapers of Shibam, though ancient, are a constant work in progress.
Which is what makes this city so remarkable. Not only its age, but how its architecture is suited to local conditions.Whether because the materials needed to sustain it are readily available, or because the height and density of the buildings offers shade from intense heat.
Shibam isn’t merely a beautiful place or a fascinating remnant of traditional architecture; it is not an ancient ruin but a living city and a home to thousands.This is vernacular architecture at its finest, using local materials to suit local needs.
You can see why the traveller Freya Stark called it the Manhattan of the Desert when she came here in the 1930s.There were few places in the West with a similar density of highrises, and none that were 500 years old and built without “professional” architects and engineers.
And so these aren’t really skyscrapers at all. The “skyscraper” is a modern building indifferent to local conditions, made possible by concrete, steel, and a colossal construction industry.Shibam’s highrises are the opposite: a triumph of traditional architecture.
It has been inhabited for well over two thousand years.The Roman name for Yemen was Arabia Felix, meaning “Fertile Arabia” or “Blessed Arabia”.
Because it was in this region that precious spices such as frankincense, myrrh, and cinnamon were produced and traded
The Ancient World was far more connected than we realise, and the whole of Hadhramaut, including Shibam, was connected to the intercontinental network of trade in spices and other goods.Roman historians like Pliny the Elder and Diodorus even wrote about Hadhramaut.
Yemen was right in the middle of this ancient network, and was vital not only as a producer of valuable spices but as an intermediary between the east and the west.The Silk Road went over land, but the maritime spice trade coming from the Indian Ocean passed through Yemen.
Shibam has been inhabited ever since; a caravan stop for inland traders bringing spices to the coast.The city we see today was largely built in the 16th century after the old town was destroyed during a flood, though parts of it date back to the 9th and 10th centuries.
But Shibam is not unusual; its clustered towers are typical of Hadhramaut architecture.The wadis and mountains of this region are filled with cities, palaces, fortresses like the breathtaking town of Al-Hajarayn.
Then there’s Wadi Dawan, another isolated city of mudbrick skyscrapers tucked away in the valleys of Hadhramaut.
Or the tiny village of Haid al-Jazil, built on an escarpment at the bottom of a narrow wadi.This gives you a good sense of the landscape and environment of Hadhramaut, one to which local people adapted their architecture and urban planning.

The towns of Hadhramaut are beautiful – and evidence that “skyscrapers” are centuries old – but they are more than just beautiful.To call Shibam the “Manhattan of the Desert” does it a disservice; these living cities are a supreme example of vernacular architecture.

Instagram just released a bunch of hashtag criteria on their creator page, and it got me rolling on the floor in pains, I used to exhaust my hashtag limits of 30 Instagram hashtags. Now the social media giant is asking us to reduce these hashtags to 3 – 5 hashtags. (I can only settle for 10 personally) 5 Instagram hashtags are way too small. Ps, if you have shitty content, hashtags don’t matter.How do I get my Instagram hashtags?

Benefits of freelancing include the freedom to work from home or from a non-traditional workspace, a flexible work schedule, and a better work-life balance.Being a freelancer in 2022 is literally following the trend and companies are jumping on freelance jobs till they milk the joy out of it.
Advantages of Freelancers In Todays World
Flexibility and Special Expertise – Freelancer talent offers your business flexible access to special expertise at the proverbial drop of a hat.Savings – Freelancers save lots of costs for themselves and also the company, including transport costs in terms of Freelancer & location costs amongst other numerous costs that physical jobs cost the company.
Fewer Responsibilities and Less Supervision – While many human resource departments don’t agree on this advantage for freelancers, it is impossible to miss. Study shows that freelancers are more productive in delivery, especially with less supervision. Freelancers help you and your colleagues avoid unnecessary headaches, too.

Feeling isolated – There’s no fun in working alone, even when you make all the money you ever need, back in junior secondary school, our biology teachers always insisted that humans are social animals, personally as a freelancer, I often feel isolated when I work, doesn’t mean other things don’t motivate me to get the work done, but I think a work environment where a few other humans are present isn’t such a horrible idea, so if you are preparing to take up freelancing as a career, be ready to feel isolated.Hustling 24/7 for new gigs – Job security is a really big issue for freelancers like myself, while as you grow older in your niche/expertise, you become confident in the results you can give to your clients.
Does that mean you won’t be on websites like Freelancer, Fiverr and Upwork searching for new and better clients? No! Applying for jobs on these sites will definitely be part of your daily routine.
Inconsistent work and cash flow: Freelance jobs are plagued with this as a horrible factor, many companies and brands have adopted a bad practice of owing their freelancers after they’ve delivered on the jobs, personally it appears that freelancing doesn’t provide a sense of Job security & consistent pay from the employer to the employee.
Instead of having one boss, you have several clients to answer to: One boss can be bad enough, but now having multiple clients as bosses can be a horrible state to work in. As a freelancer, it takes me 2-3 months to have a level of understanding about a client and their temperaments, while it can be a tough 2 – 3 months because you’ll get queries, and threats to cut or even cut contracts, but eventually, when you and the client have been able to meet at the middle, the work can come across easy.
But remember you are searching for new clients regularly, which means you have no break from trying to understand what exactly the client wants even when they vaguely filled out the questionnaire you provided at the beginning of the Job.
No paid time off, no maternity/paternity leave – Forget the lies they tell you about you having your own time and all that, it’s a big lie.
You take a break, you get replaced in the freelance world, even if it’s a temporary replacement the job must go on. Also unlike other employments (full time) where you get maternity/paternity leave, it is not also so for freelance jobs. But this isn’t so every time, some companies have policies that protect their freelance employees by giving them physical employee benefits even when they are far away.

No fewer than 80 children were Friday morning abducted by bandits in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, IgbereTV has learned.
According to a BBC Hausa report, the children are between the ages of 12 and 17.
Some parents of the abducted children who spoke to the British broadcaster said the victims were in the bush fetching firewood at about 8:00 a.m. when the assailants rounded them up and marched them away into the forest.
The abductors are yet to reach the parents to make any demands as of the time BBC reported the kidnap.
Bandits abduct two female FUGUS students
On Sunday, April 2, 2023, two female students from the Federal University of Gusau were kidnapped by gunmen who stormed their hostel in the Sabon Gida town in Zamfara state’s Bungudu Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the state police spokeswoman, SP Mohammed Shehu, the gunmen entered the students’ rented accommodation about 1 a.m. on Sunday and locked up the security guards before transporting the victims to an unknown location.
The kidnappers were claimed to have locked the guards up and seized their phones before abducting the two students from the Department of Microbiology. According to the statement, by the time police arrived, the kidnappers had escaped with the victims.

- From pre-independence ethnic dog whistling, to pogroms, a civil war and the systemic socio-political ostracization that has since followed, the Igbo are the most discriminated ethnic group in Nigeria and ethnic bigotry against Igbo people has been on full display in the 2023 election.
When Peter Obi first declared his interest to run for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the Labour Party platform, chances of his success were written off as slim to none.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), from which Obi decamped, felt confident that he would neither survive nor thrive outside their established political ‘structures’. Members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), scoffed at the idea that he could pose a threat to their candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a behemoth of Nigerian politics credited with masterminding the election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obi’s initial support base—a diverse group of progressive Nigerians of different ethnic and religious affiliations—knew that the odds were stacked against him from the onset. Nonetheless, they were happy to back a politician who seemed to have genuine zeal to serve the people and stuck with him based on this principle. Only Obi’s kinsmen knew that the conversation would soon become about where he was from instead of what he stood for or what he could offer. True to their fears, Obi’s candidacy soon became ethnically polarizing.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria’s People’s Party came on national TV with carefully selected words. According to Kwankwaso, ‘it would be very difficult for the northern voter to vote for a candidate from the South East.’ These loose comments started the barrage of attacks from mainstream personalities which has since then intensified. Politically exposed people like Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El Rufai, referred to Obi supporters in a tweet as ‘imports’ ahead of a planned one-million-man march and social media influencer Reno Omokri, repeatedly referred to Obi supporters as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the proscribed secessionist group whose goal is to excise the South East from the rest of Nigeria. In a tweet, Omokri wrote that ‘at night, in their covens, there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between IPOB and the core Obidients!’
In all this, Obi stayed above the fray, maintaining that his candidacy was based solely on his belief that he could reposition Nigeria towards socioeconomic recovery. In his campaign, Obi told Nigerians everywhere that it was their turn to ‘take their country back’.
THE ROOTS OF IGBOPHOBIA
Igbophobia /ɪgbəʊˈfəʊ.bi.ə/ is the baseless suspicion of, prejudice, discrimination, or hostility against people from the Igbo ethnic group of Nigeria, by Nigerians (from other ethnic groups). Igbophobia is an ever-present thread that runs through the tapestry of the story of Nigeria. Long before the first military coup in 1966 and the civil war the coup precipitated, Sardauna of Sokoto and the premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, expressed deep-seated distrust towards the Igbo people in Northern Nigeria. According to him, ‘an Igbo man comes to a place and wants to become the top boss.’ To assuage his unfounded fears of Igbo domination in the North, the premier stated that they only hired Igbo people for jobs they cannot find a northerner or an expatriate to do, and in this case, only on contract basis. This enshrined a culture that made it nearly impossible for Igbos to secure civil service jobs in the North.

Former Elizade university VC sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for fraud
A High Court in Akure, the capital of the Ondo state, has sentenced Prof. Adekunle Oloyede, a former vice chancellor of Elizade University, to five years in prison for fraud.
Oloyede was charged with defrauding Mike Ade Investment limited for Duro Global Property by obtaining $720,000 for the construction of a 500-bed facility at the university and $250,000, $150,000, and $620,000 at various times under the pretense of using the funds for the building of a hostel for the institution.
It was established in court that many payments totaling millions of dollars in foreign currency were made into an account connected to Oloyede for the importation of panel for the construction of the dorm. Even though the materials had been delivered from Australia to Ilara-Mokin in Ondo State, the former vice chancellor was unable to complete the projects, which resulted in his detention and subsequent prosecution by the local government.
However, he entered a plea of not guilty and claimed that the court lacked the authority to hear the accusations against him.
After finding the professor guilty on all six counts of using false pretenses, theft, and fraud in violation of the state’s anti-graft legislation, Justice Aderemi Adegoroye, the presiding judge, sentenced him to prison.

UNIBEN releases 2022/2023 supplementary PUTME/PUDE results
The administration of the University of Benin has announced the PUTME/PUDE supplemental results for the 2022–2023 academic year. To view their results, prospective candidates must go to the school website.
The University of Benin’s 2022–2023 Supplementary Examination results have been made public. For the PUTME, 178 applicants were screened, and 88% of them passed; for the PUDE, the pass percentage was 49%. 44 applicants underwent screening.

UNN releases batch 3 Supplementary admission list, 2021/2022
This is to inform the general public especially the prospective students of the University of Nigeria (UNN) that the batch three(3) supplementary admission list for the 2021/2022 academic session has been released.
Candidates offered provisional admission are required to adopt the following guidelines to regularize their acceptance of the offer:
Visit the JAMB Portal and accept your admission on CAPS by clicking “Accept Admission”. Candidates who fail to accept their admission on JAMB CAPS would not be issued JAMB Admission Letter and would be deemed as not admitted.
Visit the University of Nigeria website (unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng), log in your JAMB Registration number to generate and download a Payment Invoice which contains a Remitta number, the invoice will enable you to make payment at any Commercial Bank, including UNN Microfinance Bank.
With the Payment Invoice, candidates are requested to pay Thirty Thousand Naira Only (N30, 000.00) acceptance fee. Ensure that the Invoice number is keyed in appropriately at the Bank and obtain a confirmation slip containing your Confirmation number and Invoice number.
Visit the University of Nigeria website (unn.edu.ng) or portal (unnportal.edu.ng) again and login with your JAMB Registration Number, Confirmation Number, and Invoice Number, then print the Admission slip and complete the Acceptance Form online.
Proceed with other fee payments and registration as indicated on the University of Nigeria website.
Candidates should note that this admission is provisional.
If at any time in future, including final year, it is discovered that any candidate does not possess the minimum university and the faculty/departmental entry requirements for the course as prescribed by the Senate of the University, and published in JAMB Brochure, the offer of admission will be withdrawn.

The supplementary UTME list of 2022/2023 Admission exercises into various degree programs has been released. Prospective candidates who participated in the Admission screening exercise can check their admission status via the Undergraduate Admissions portal.

The Rape of Nanjing
The Nanking Massacre or Rape was the name given to this horrifying incident. During the Japanese conquest of Nanking city in late 1937, more than 20,000 women, including children and the elderly, were mercilessly raped. They murdered around 50,000 male civilians and killed an estimated 150,000 male “war prisoners.”
The Yangtze River received thousands of bodies of massacre victims, who were thrown there until the river water turned red from the corpses. The Japanese destroyed and burned a third of Nanking City after plundering it.

Zainab Kassim was treating her body to some rejuvenating time at the spa on the morning of November 18, 2022 when she received a phone call from Abubakar Maikano, the Administrative Officer at the presidential villa, inviting her to physically discuss something he knew was of interest to her. She considered going but discarded the idea.
By the time she returned home, observed siesta and roused herself, she had missed two more phone calls. The first was from Usman Shugaba, First Lady Aisha Buhari’s Aide-De-Camp (ADC), who claimed that the Security Officer (SO) had been trying to reach her unsuccessfully. Zainab then called the SO. Unlike the decoy-employing Maikano and Shugaba, the SO asked at once to meet up.
Shugaba and Aisha Buhari… a brutal partnership It was nine months since the First Lady unceremoniously fired Zainab on the pages of newspapers as her Executive Assistant. She had served the First Lady “with sweat and blood” for seven years, between June 2015 and February 2022, and her time at the villa was done and dusted. Why would anyone want to see her at the villa? Again, she declined.
She would soon give it a second thought. SO was her ex-colleague with whom there was no feud, after all. She reluctantly agreed to meet up with him at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) junction, Guzape. She had been waiting here for him for half an hour when two SUVs suddenly sandwiched her, a gun-toting official of the Department of State Service (DSS) disembarking to order her out of her car or watch the door shattered with bullets. The SO was still nowhere to be found, so Zainab called him to ask: “Did you set me up?”
12 ‘MOUTH SLAPS’ — DEHUMANISED ON AISHA BUHARI’S ORDERS
The first destination was the DSS headquarters, where the DSS officials abandoned Zainab in the car for over an hour, pending clearance from an unnamed superior. The clearance was taking forever to come, so they drove her to the villa, pulling over at the office of the Officer in Charge of the DSS at the villa (OC Villa). This was where she discovered her offence for the first time. The OC Villa handed her a paper to write a statement on why she “removed a post from the First Lady’s Instagram handle”. All this Gestapo-style abduction was about an Instagram post?
After writing her statement, Zainab was left idling away for the next five hours. At 11pm or thereabouts, the SO telephoned the OC to deliver Zainab to the First Lady.
Aisha Buhari was personally physically assaulting Aminu Mohammed, the 500-level student of the Federal University Dutse who tweeted that she was feeding fat on the poor’s wealth, when Zainab was brought into her presence. The First Lady instantly turned on Zainab, screaming in Hausa: “That’s Aminu’s mother coming!”
Zainab says the First Lady went on a tirade, accusing her of deleting posts from her Instagram account and — before she could defend herself — belts: “Slap her!”
Zainab instantly got what she calls “a thunderous slap”.
“From who?” I asked her.
“I don’t know those two guys,” she responds. “Every other person there I knew, but not these two guys, so I believe they were the ones who went to bring Aminu from Jigawa. I must have received two or four slaps, because my brain…”
Zainab in tears while narrating her violation by the FIrst Lady Zainab maintains innocence of the said offence. She was still attempting to recover from the slaps when another instruction came: “Beat her!” By Zainab’s narration, the First Lady started to beat her SO, chiding him: “It’s your fault; you’re supposed to be protecting me.”
As Aisha Buhari was beating SO, SO was punching Zainab’s stomach. The harder the First Lady hit the SO, the harder he smacked Zainab.
“As she was beating him, he was beating me,” she says. “All I could do was scream ‘Oh my God, oh my God’ in Arabic.”
All this, she recalls, happened in public, in the presence of the SO, OC, ADC, two DSS officials, the First Lady’s orderlies, Aminu, those two police officers who slapped her, and one other lady. This was close to midnight on Friday November 18.
For trying to defend herself against the accusation of deleting the Instagram post, the First Lady told the policemen to give Zainab 12 “mouth slaps”, that is, to hold the lips with which she was talking, and hit them! She then ordered Zainab to lie down, and instructed Ruth Rabbi Adamu, her orderly, to beat her. Ruth unhooked her belt and started to whip Zainab. Still dissatisfied, the First Lady snatched the belt from Ruth and lashed it at Zainab’s skin by herself.
“Each time I tried to defend myself against the allegations, she told them to hold my mouth and slap it,” Zainab recalls. “This happened 12 times.”
KARMA STRUCK WITHIN A FEW HOURS
The Daily Nigerian of November 20, 2022 When Aisha Buhari was done whipping Zainab, she withdrew from her and advanced towards Aminu to resume the assault that had been punctuated by Zanab’s arrival, but she tripped before getting to him, injuring her leg in the process. The leg injury, and subsequent hospital treatment, was reported by Daily Nigerian, although the platform hadn’t yet known the cause at the time. Eight days later, Jafaar Jafaar, founder of the paper, released snippets of the cause of the leg injury.
Zainab says the First Lady hurled some of the most horrible words she’d ever heard in life at her — words like “You’ll go to jail”, “I wish they killed you”, “I will shoot you’, “I wish they shot you and threw your body in the lagoon”, “I will kill you and nothing will happen”.
“Aisha kept screaming ‘I will burst your stomach,” says Zainab. “At one point I said ‘you know I have high blood pressure’, but she told me ‘I don’t care’. It was later I found out that she thought I was pregnant.”
On learning of their mum’s injury and the preparations to take her to the hospital, three of Aisha’s children sprang out to find their mother, sat on the floor, compelling Zainab to alter the password to her Instagram account before heading to the hospital to nurse her injury. The Commissioner of Police (CP), the OC Anti-Vice and two more officers moved Zainab to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where she was mandated to talk as they wrote a statement on her behalf. From there, Zainab was detained at Asokoro Police Station. Before the officers locked her up, she asked them to be allowed to have her blood pressure medication and contact her family, but they declined. They simply told her “see you at 7am”.
MANHUNT FOR ZAINAB
Some drugs Zainab got after freedom from detention to ease her pains Unable to reach her on the phone, Zainab’s loved ones knew at once that something untoward had happened. By the second day of her detention, they had begun scouring the police stations in the federal capital. Of course, they made a stop at Asokoro; as expected, the police denied holding her. It didn’t take too long for them to be exposed, though: Once someone on the search team spotted the ADC at the station, it became clear Zainab was their guest.
Having gone nearly 48 hours without her drugs, Zainab — she arrived at the Asokoro Police Station at about 4am on Saturday — collapsed on Sunday evening, and was rushed to the Police Hospital, Area 1, Garki, where the doctor confirmed she was experiencing body pains and would be kept for four hours to monitor her already-high blood pressure. The doctor let Zainab have access to her BP meds, and promised her captors to send her back to the cell if she was okay by 9pm. She also prescribed a brain x-ray at Firmcare Diagnostics and Medical Services, also in Garki, to establish the extent of the damage to Zainab’s brain by the multiple head slaps she received at the villa.

She was discharged on Monday morning — not to her house, but the cell! Shortly before her release from the hospital, the ADC had unceremoniously shown up, promising to secure her freedom from detention. But there was a clause: no conversations with lawyers, no interactions with rights activists, no media interviews. By then, news of Aminu’s detention, and to a smaller extent Zainab’s, had filtered to the press.
Tuesday, Zainab fainted for the second time in two days and was rushed to the hospital again. Starting to fear she might die in their custody, they released her to her people.
Hours before her release, Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police; Halima Buhari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s fifth daughter; and her husband met with Zainab’s parents and husband, reiterating that she must not talk to any support group or “tarnish the image of the First Lady”. Alkali was quoted to have specifically warned them all that as the IGP, he could “use a small stone to kill a bird” and that he would use “any of the resources” available to him to “protect the First Lady”. IGP Alkali said nothing about the president’s wife’s abuse of power and state institutions.
ONCE UPON A TIME, THE FIRST LADY’S ‘GENERAL’
Zainab first started working for Aisha Buhari as her Personal Assistant shortly after her husband secured a now-widely-regretted victory at the 2015 polls. At the time, Aisha did not have formal slots, so Zainab and others were placed under her Future Assured initiative. In any case, the Office of the First Lady, which Aisha leverages to oppress the downtrodden, is merely ceremonial — not elective, without a place in the Constitution. In one of his litany of failed pre-election promises, President Muhammadu Buhari had exclusively told Weekly Trust in December 2014 that he would discard the Office of the First Lady if elected, a promise that was subsequently endorsed by Aisha. Buharis’ first term had not even ended when he did an about-face.
Before the job, Zainab was in Lagos; she relocated to Abuja with her 10-month-old daughter, abandoning the Child Aid And Support Awareness Foundation (CASAF), an organisation she founded in 2011 to provide aid to children in orphanage homes and underserved communities, including IDP camps.
At the start of Buhari’s second term in 2019, she received a letter officially confirming her as Special Assistant to the First Lady, something she says is compensation for her tireless work during the 2019 campaign period.
“I was at the forefront of the campaign,” she says. “I was doing literally everything that had to do with the women’s wing. I was everywhere. Even during the lockdown, I was always on the road, Benue, Plateau, everywhere. And I remember one day when we were in her living room in the villa and the president came in, and she told him, ‘Zainab is my general.’”
As the years went by, Zainab developed high blood pressure working for a woman she says “can be toxic”.
“We saw people get kicked out for no reason,” she recalls. “You went to work every day knowing it could be the last day. Someone could come tell her something about you, and you could get fired without the opportunity to state your side. I saw her do that with her friends and family, even people who spoke the same language with her. So, every day, I went to work afraid.”
Meanwhile, a source familiar with Zainab’s work but who asked not to be named for fear of sack as they still work in the villa, told FIJ Zainab literally slaved for Aisha Buhari. “Zainab planned all the presidential weddings that happened between 2015 and her sack last year — every single one!” said the source. “The first family did not have an official planner. She found nannies for the first family, and planned their birthday parties outside of official duties. In fact, she still planned their events months after she had been officially fired.”
FIJ also understands that from her starting salary of N250,000, Zainab hired five hands whom she paid N30,000 each, solely to help her meet the First Lady’s needs.
“This was Zainab’s salary for five years, from 2015 to 2019,” the source continued. “And she needed those hands because there could be any assignment from the First Lady, even in the middle of the night. This was someone who had a 10-month-old baby but came back home to her only at 2am, 3am every day. And, on this job, you’re not allowed to take money from anyone or be friends with anyone, be it governors’ wives or anyone else.”
TRYING FOR A BABY
In 2022, Zainab’s then 10-month-old baby clocked seven without a sibling. She and her husband had been trying for a baby without success, so she attempted In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF); it failed. All her conceptions pre-IVF ended in miscarriages; and each time she bled, she did not stop working. “I had many miscarriages in the course of that job,” she says, “and with all the bleeding, I was still doing all the work.”
So, with all of the stress of work, failed conceptions, rising blood pressure, palpitations and her daughter asking for a sibling, Zainab, seeing she was “running mad”, opted to take time off.
One Saturday in October 2021, when she was responding to a lot of hormonal drugs and had blown up, the FIrst Lady sent for her. She went with all her medication and injections, explained that she was trying for a baby, and requested for some physical time off. The First Lady agreed to let Zainab work out of the villa since Zainab herself had hired three support staff.
THE PUBLIC SACK WITHOUT PERSONAL NOTIFICATION
Someday in January 2022, Zainab noticed she had been yanked off the official WhatsApp platform for aides. She believes one of the First Lady’s new aides had said something negative about her to her boss. Zainab texted the First Lady to politely inform her she was no longer on the platform, and to ask if she had done something wrong.
Although the First Lady said Zainab had done nothing wrong, she forwarded her message to Aliyu Abdullahi, her then Special Adviser on Media who now works with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). In late January 2022, one of Aisha’s closest aides rang Zainab to tell her to resign, saying she had witnessed the First Lady fume about her, with threats of firing her. Zainab reached out to two of Aisha’s children, asking what she did wrong. The duo returned to tell Zainab her offence was that she was “working for a certain governor’s wife” and that she had “too many connections in the DSS”.
“Nooooooo!!!” Zainab screams when asked if she was truly ‘working’ for the said governor’s wife. “This governor’s wife is just a kind person to me. Nothing else at all.”
One of Aisha’s children had told Zainab all was well, and they had spoken to their mother. However, on February 11, 2022, Zainab woke up to news in the dailies: Zainab Kassim disengaged from office of the First Lady. It was no shock. Right in the middle of the you-will-be-fired rumours, Zainab herself had written a resignation letter and sent it to one of the First Lady’s right-hand men, but he dissuaded her from submitting it, claiming all had been resolved. With news of her sack now finally public, Zainab texted the First Lady to thank her for seven years of growth and learning, you know, those words outgoing employees write to their bosses with whom they’d rather keep a healthy relationship. Aisha rang her immediately, saying, according to Zainab: “I got your message o; there is no problem between us at all o. But when you’re working with the presidency, there are some things you cannot do.”
Zainab wasn’t sure if “those things you cannot do” meant she could not have a baby. “My loyalty to madam First Lady ended that day, although, to be honest, I have no hard feelings towards her children,” Zainab says.
“Imagine if I didn’t see it coming and I just woke up to news of my sack, with my health condition, without my boss communicating my sack to me, who was being sacked?
“As if the public sacking wasn’t enough, Aisha gathered governors’ wives in Dubai to tell them lies to defend the sack. Afterwards, one of the governors’ wives called me to tell me everything Aisha said.”
Zainab moved out of the official quarters immediately. Surprisingly, in April, Aisha called to ask her why. Rather than answer, Zainab burst into tears, “crying, shouting, telling her I didn’t do all the things she said I did”. “She recorded the call,” says Zainab, “and I know this because some of the people she forwarded it to admitted so.”
Zainab admits that after her sack, two of Aisha’s children sent her N2.5 million to rent another apartment; the First Lady’s younger brother sent N600,000.
INSIDE THE FIRST LADY’S ‘HALL OF INFAMY’
Haye Okoh and her cameras. She was fired as Aisha’s photographer for, wait for it, wanting to get married. Haye did not return FIJ’s request for comments. Every employer reserves the prerogative to dismiss an employee, but the reasons have to be valid and employee rights have to be respected to the fullest. In Aisha Buhari’s world, there exists a long list of ex-employees with whom she parted under the flimsiest and dodgiest of reasons.
Take her former personal photographer, Haye Okoh, for example. FIJ understands that Haye was let go because she informed the First Lady she was getting married. A villa source told FIJ that Aisha Buhari said if Haye was serious, why would she be trying to get married while working for her? Haye was immediately fired. In addition, the First Lady was reported to have ordered that Haye’s belongings be evacuated from her official quarters that same day, and the keys withdrawn. Despite not earning the sack for any documented offence, Haye was not offered the dignity of leaving office through the front door. She left the lodge in a matter of hours. FIJ found Haye on social media and messaged her for comments, but there was no feedback.
Then there is her erstwhile aide-de-camp, Sani Baba-Inna, whom she accused of collecting up to N2.5 billion from high-profile politicians in her name. That’s a humongous sum of money in truth. The only problem? Till date, nobody knows these public officials who gave Baba-Inna the millions of naira that totalled N2.5bn.
Baba-Inna was arrested in September 2018 on Aisha’s orders, but the Police found only N1,200 cash in his house and another N30,000 in his bank account. The Police subsequently cleared him; but after Aisha kicked, claiming the Police were trying to cover one of their own up, the DSS stepped in. The DSS released him in December, three months after his first arrest, without any proof of the said allegations.
Baba-Inna (standing behind Aisha). Years after, nobody can trace those who supposedly gave him N2.5bn In Zainab’s abduction, arrest and dehumanization, and in Baba-Inna’s case, something so horribly obvious is Aisha Buhari’s abuse of state power and institutions. By its own admission, the DSS was set up to prevent or detect any crime against the internal security of Nigeria; protect and preserve all non-military classified matters concerning the internal security of Nigeria; and prevent, detect and investigate threats of espionage, subversion, sabotage, terrorism, separatist agitations, inter-group conflicts, economic crimes of national security dimension. However, it has been reduced to something of a vigilante group, picking up citizens for petty allegations like deletion of Instagram posts. FIJ sent a WhatsApp message to Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesman, for comments, but there was no feedback even though he read the message.
Outside those investigations, FIJ understands that several of the said high-profile politicians were miffed by the allegations, knowing they did not give Baba-Inna money as claimed. FIJ can confirm that two of the governors Aisha said Baba-Inna took money from, have both privately denied the claim. FIJ understands they never made the denial public because they did not want to be seen as embarrassing the First Lady. Even the then IGP, Ibrahim Idris, named as one of Baba-Inna’s donors, repeatedly denied the claim.
And another is Mary Noah, Aisha’s personal beautician of well over a decade. FIJ understands that Mary had been working at Aisha’s spa for at least 14 years before she became First Lady. However, in the second half of 2021, she made the grave mistake of informing her boss that she had just purchased a piece of land. Hours later, after she had handed Aisha her medications and bid her goodbye for the day, the security accosted her on her way home, saying the First Lady had called them to search her because some thousands of dollars had gone missing. FIJ understands it was a thoroughly undignifying search. And this was someone who had never been previously accused of theft.
“They searched this girl to her vagina, to her pants,” a current villa employee, who asked not to be named for fear of retribution, said. “But they didn’t find any money on her. She was fired nevertheless. Her mistake was telling the First Lady about the land; the First Lady is someone who doesn’t want her people to progress. Claiming she stole $10,000, or was it $20,000, was just a smokescreen.”
Then there is the earlier-mentioned Aminu, who was arrested by plain-clothes security, taken to Abuja, beaten on the First Lady’s orders and detained. Aminu regained freedom only because his ordeal became a media item, prompting public outrage. However, scores of others were not so lucky. Among them are at least five faintly identified by a DSS official.
“There is this one the ADC sent his boys to pick in one of the hotels at Central Area; I think his name is Habib from Kano or so,” said the DSS official, who only agreed to speak with FIJ through an intermediary for fear of being given out.
“There is one they arrested at Dr. Hajo [Sani’s] house… I think the guy is from Delta or so. And there are about three arrested again in Kano in relation to this social media stuff, but that was done by our people [the DSS] in Kano. Many of such cases, but having their full identity is the major problem.”
THREE MONTHS ON, ZAINAB’S PAINS CONTINUE
Till date, Zainab experiences pains in her ribs and joints, for which she is undergoing physiotherapy. For the pain in her eyes, she is still seeing an ophthalmologist.
In the daytime, she experiences panic attacks. At night, she can no longer sleep unless supervised. If she wakes up at night and finds nobody beside her, she starts to scream. She constantly feels someone is following her. For that, she sees a psychotherapist for help.
Zainab still undergoes physiotherapy “The other day, I was driving and I thought someone was following me, I had to drive into a filling station,” she tells FIJ. “I felt if someone wanted to shoot me, at least they wouldn’t do it in a filling station!”
Her eight-year-old daughter still cries in school from time to time. Once her friends asked her why she was moody, she said her mum travelled without telling her, and without reaching her or being reachable.
“One thing this ordeal has taught me is that you could literally disappear off the surface of the earth and only a few people will care about your disappearance,” Zainab says of the experience.
Zainab still battling chest and abdominal pains “My family and friends tried to silence me out of fear for their lives. They said since Aisha fell and had surgery and spent four days in the hospital, that must have been God fighting. But silence was doing me more harm mentally, hence everything I’m doing, even this interview, is independent of what my husband, mum, siblings and friends feel. I’m making these decisions alone, on my own.”
FIJ contacted Suleman Haruna, media aide to Aisha, requesting comments from his principal, but he redirected enquiries to Sani Zorro, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Strategy to the First Lady. Zorro read FIJ’s WhatApp message asking for Aisha’s comments, but he had not replied as of press time.
THE CALIBRE OF PEOPLE AROUND AISHA BUHARI
Zoro sensationally claimed he didn’t know Zainab Kassim FIJ contacted Suleman Haruna, media aide to Aisha, requesting comments from his principal, but he redirected enquiries to Sani Zorro, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs and Strategy to the First Lady.
When FIJ contacted Zorro, former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), former President of the West African Journalists Association (WAJA), former President of the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ), and former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Internally Displaced Persons, Refugees and Initiatives on the North East, he asked a series of interesting questions:
“Dear “Investigative” Journalist, ‘Fisayo Soyombo. [sic] Thank you for your interest in my Principal [sic], and wish to assure you [sic] of our willingness to assist with your legitimate enquiries,” he wrote.
“Before then, it is only proper to establish your legal identity [sic], if only to protect our good profession from the activities of its enemies, including fake and other rogue elements.
Kindly help me to facilitate your request by responding to the following;
“Which platform do you represent, what beat do you cover, and what is your position in your organisation’s editorial hierarchy, Pls? [sic]
“2. What are the identities of the complainants who made the “testimonies”? This should enable us verify their claimed relationship with my Principal.
“3. Instead of generalized claims of “assault” [sic] “battery” and “dehumanization”, could you be specific with individual cases Pls [sic]?
“4. What are the identities of the “security agents” whom they alleged had aided and abeted [sic] their illegal treatment by Aisha Buhari?
“I am sure ‘Bisayo would not find difficulty in clarifying these issues to enable me be of service to your medium and the greater Nigerian Society [sic] in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution, International, Regional and local conventions, agreements and protocols governing the practice of ethical journalism as opposed to the overwhelming resort to blackmail, extortion, and other criminal tools that define today’s practice.
“As a Reporter [sic] of profound integrity, I want you, Mr Soyombo, to accept my assurances of professional solidarity at all levels, and under all circumstances Pls [sic]. Thank you in anticipation [sic].
FIJ responded by urging Zorro “to address Zainab’s Kassim’s case with regard to the words you itemised in ‘3’ above, but he wrote back, saying: “I do not know this person, or whatever her claims are.”

Zainab’s bruised shoulder, one week after “I want justice,” Zainab says.
“I want the world to know what happened to me. I want the world to know how I was told to keep quiet, irrespective of what happened to me. There are women I expect to be at the forefront of this fight, but these are the same women who are telling me to keep quiet because ‘this is power’. I feel that this is hypocrisy.
“There were times when I spoke out against the government I worked for, when I aired my opinion and stood on the side of truth. I feel like if I represented the truth when it concerned other people, why shouldn’t I do the same for myself?”
Zainab’s injured arm Asked what exactly would represent justice for her, Zainab replies: “I think I deserve an apology; my family deserves an apology — my husband, my daughter, my friends — for the trauma we underwent for four days. And I heard that the First Lady had told the judge I would get five years in jail. Everyone around me who has cried over this matter deserves an apology.”
After this piece, she wants Nigerians to know that if anything happens to her husband, her mother, her siblings or her two closest friends, then Aisha Buhari should be held responsible. Zainab’s husband in particular was made to sign a bail bond, accompanied by a gag order, before her release.
“If she’s not using state apparatus, she can use assassins,” she says. “I fear her more than I fear the devil.”

The Armed Forces of Nigeria take note with dismay of the rumor that some dishonest individuals are spreading, which claims that some military commanders met with one of the presidential candidates in an effort to sabotage the general elections and ignite the nation.
According to Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, the spokesperson for the Defense Department, harmful propaganda suggested that a so-called Thursday meeting was planning a coup d’état to impose an unlawful order.
According to the military, it is disappointing that even politically exposed people can demean themselves into joining violent and destabilizing agents by making untrue allegations in order to increase political tension. According to the declaration, the Armed Forces of Nigeria are a professional military force that is devoted to upholding the Federal Republic’s Constitution and will never take part in a scheme to undermine democracy.
It adds that the Military will not participate in the alleged shenanigans and will continue to be apolitical and neutral in the current political process. The statement further states that the Nigerian Armed Forces will never take part in any despicable scheme to undermine the nation’s arduous democracy.
The military issues a warning that those who fabricate and disseminate false information will be asked by the proper law enforcement agencies to provide evidence to support their allegations. The general people is advised to ignore this information and carry on with their regular routines.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) is not allowed to sell the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc, according to the Federal High Court in Lagos.
IBEDC and the other 10 defendants in the lawsuit asked for an interlocutory injunction, and Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke granted it, particularly prohibiting AMCON from “alienating, selling, disposing, or transferring the IBEDC awaiting the final outcome of the litigation before it.”
The 11 defendants are John Olatunde Ayeni, Dr. Olusola Ayandele, the Personal Legal Representatives of the Estate of Captain Idahosa Okunbo, also known as Captain Hosa Wells Okunbo, the Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Company Limited (in receivership), Akere Ayanwola, Kayode Ojutiku, Folu Olusanya, Mallam Aliyu Ibrahim, Usman Mohammad, Alhaji
To determine “whether the plaintiff was entitled to remain in possession of, manage, supervise, and exercise all the powers of a Receiver/Manager on all the assets of the First Defendant under the Deed of Debenture, Deed of Share Charge, the AMCON Act 2010 as amended, and the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020, without interference, obstruction, and or hindrance in any manner,” they had filed a lawsuit against AMCON acting through its nominee, Mr. A. B. Ogun
In addition, they asked the court to rule on whether “the Second, Third, and Fourth Defendants and indeed all the other defendants are liable to the plaintiff for the debts charged against the First Defendant’s properties and assets by virtue of their respective personal Guaranties which they issue in the respect of the loan, the subject of this suit as well as under sections 48, 49, 50, and 61 of the Act, read together?”
Dele Adesina (SAN), the applicant’s attorney, bemoaned AMCON’s claimed shady scheme to get rid of IBEDC in November 2022 notwithstanding what he called the problem for determination or subject matter of settlement commenced by both parties.
“My Lord, if people turn to self-help by hiring the police, Army, thugs, etc. when the court is no longer the only option left for vulnerable individuals, the results will be so devastating. When local investors are treated with such disrespect, I wonder how this mindset can draw in global investors. A property that served as the foundation for postponing the subject for resolution can now be listed for sale in a newspaper, he had added.
