Adebayo Olamide Azeez, a 32-year-old graduate of Kwara State Polytechnic, has been implicated as a ritual killer operating in Ogun State, having confessed to using a social media app, MyChat, to lure female victims. This revelation came to light following a post by the Ogun State Police on their X page, detailing the arrest of Azeez along with Moses Abidemi Aruwaji and Maria Awuraji, who are believed to be his accomplices in a criminal syndicate engaged in ritual killings.
The investigation that led to their arrests was initiated after Suleimon Adijat was reported missing at the Onipanu Division. The police disclosed that the couple, Moses and Maria, were apprehended prior to Azeez, who had initially fled but was later captured on February 23.
Azeez admitted to assisting Moses in procuring female victims through MyChat for ritualistic murders. He stated his involvement began on September 23, 2023, and continued until January 11, 2024, driven by his inability to find employment despite his academic qualifications. According to Azeez, he managed to lure seven women to their deaths, for which he was compensated with payments ranging between N30,000 and N40,000.
He detailed the process of attracting victims, particularly mentioning how he encountered Adijat Sulaimot on MyChat, arranged to meet her, and subsequently led her to the residence of Moses Abidemi for the grim purpose intended. The police further uncovered evidence linking the suspects to multiple victims, including the recovery of 10 female bags from Moses Abidemi Aruwaji’s shrine, indicating the killing of ten women at his residence in Igbo Olomi.
The Ogun State Police have called on families with missing relatives to come forward to the SCIID in Eleweran, Abeokuta, as efforts continue to identify other victims of this heinous crime network. This case underscores the dangers lurking on social media platforms and the imperative for vigilance among users.

ASUU calls off strike after eight months
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has been on strike for eight months as of February 14, has ended it.
The choice was made following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting that took place on Thursday evening and into early Friday morning.
After several hours of talks between the ASUU leadership and the federal government, a highly placed source present at the NEC meeting told Peoples Gazette that the strike had been called off.
ASUU was compelled to end its strike after Chris Ngige, the minister of labor and employment, filed a petition against the union at the National Industrial Court.
ASUU appealed the case to the Court of Appeal after being dissatisfied with the result, but the appellate court confirmed the industrial court’s ruling, saying the lecturers had to start working again before launching an appeal.
The academic union’s strike began exactly eight months ago on Thursday.

What Is The Difference Between Screening And Post-UTME Examination
Recently someone messaged us on Student Village via WhatsApp asking if Kwara state polytechnic does screening or post utme, shortly after another student sent us a message inquiring the difference between Screening and Post UTME.
I’ll use this thread to answer all questions asked.
1. Does Kwarapoly conduct screening or post utme for their examination exercise?
The answer is, Screening, you don’t have to write any examination for Kwarapoly besides JAMB. Their admission exercise entails you submitting your documents and hoping it meets the requirements for the course you are applying into.
2. What is Screening ?
A screening exercise in the sense of admissions is simply when schools invite students for an admission exercise that requires them to submit all necessary documents that will make them eligible for admission into the school. The school will set out what documents you should submit and the minimum JAMB score they must have before they can even get involved into the screening exercise. An example of a school that conducts screening besides Kwarapoly will be KWASU.
3. What is Post – UTME?
Like the name entails, Post-UTME, that means an exam that comes after JAMB (UTME).
This method, students are invited for an admission process by the school they picked in JAMB where by they will have to sit for an exam set by the school, some of these exams are set in JAMB CBT format with the addition of an extra subject called “current affairs”
Students who are applying into schools that require post utme, are advised to read just like they read for JAMB.
4. What is the difference between Screening and Post-UTME?
Screening, you are not sitting for any exams, you’d just be submitting documents that meets the criteria needed by the school, while for Post-UTME, you’ll sit for an exam, as well as be required to submit necessary documents that enables your admission process.
